Wow, Sofie! I've had my adventures, but never a tryst with a criminal. Unless you count a little bit of plagiarism...
Indeed, I was thinking the closest I could come was the time I slept with a guy who later published a conspiracy theory book and went to work for Investigate. Which is quite like boinking a plagiarist.
Well, it would have been rude not to.
It's nice that there are other people who appreciate that sometimes, yes, it is bad manners to NOT hit on someone.

Oh, and it probably didn't help that I snogged his girlfriend while he was out cold.
Smooth move.

How sordid are we talking? Sordid enough so that a silence falls upon the room, and people rapidly change the subject? Or more like 'uproarious-laughter-inspiring'?
More OMG laughing than 'I just threw up in my mouth' or 'Now I'll just pop off and kill myself'. But there must be some aspect of debauchery involved. Tom's is excellent.
My most frequently-told story is this one, which appears here as Alex Was Not a Breast Man. (And as an aside, four years ago? Holy crap.)

How much time must elapse before an event becomes part of one's sordid past, rather than one's sordid present?
Long enough for a shower? After you've said, "Thank you for having me"?

After I read that bit Emma linky to, I now feel sorry for the guy.
It's okay, Sofie, turns out apology #2 was no more meaningful than apology #1
The guy is now in Uganda, and right back on form.

Hope the scan went well.
Yeah. I now know what the important difference between a CT and an MRI is: about forty minutes.

My double identity continues to confuse Emma in amusing ways, but given the pace of the past few weeks she may be forgiven :D
Oh arse, I cocked that up again, didn't I? I can tell Marsden from Matsen, it's just the names I get confused. Sorry. And I have to give you massively big ups for spelling my children's names correctly in the captions.
I think that this one is practically the best photograph of me ever. It certainly captures David Haywood in his native surroundings.
It makes you look all dark and brooding and Relevant to my Interests.
I did take some pics last night but I don't have Robert's legendary uploading speed. I was at the hospital at seven this morning and haven't really recovered yet.
For those who are interested, this one features my partner, Karl, and both our children. My daughter is the redhead in the tiger-print dress who spent the whole launch reading my book.

"Brutus is an honourable man."
Oh Steve, bless you. That was one of my Honours essays: "All Honourable Men: Values and Truth in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar", and you're dead right. Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to nerd right up there.
Slightly relatedly, I'm kind of tired of being told that referring to my daughter as 'hearing impaired' is politically correct bullshit, and it should be 'deaf'. No it bloody shouldn't, but thanks for proving you know jack fucking shit.

Even that's changing fairly rapidly, when it comes to interviewees swearing. I've heard "shit" on the news several times
An "unfortunate" side-effect of bleeping swearing is that it makes everything sound like 'fuck' if you can't see the lips, and if you can it's completely bloody pointless.
Still, I did consciously refrain from saying 'cunt' (for a perfectly good reason) on the radio last Friday. It just didn't feel right.

Man, I thought I might be able to come to this, but it looks like I'll be stuck in Timaru doing the regional round.
Aw, Matthew, that's sad in so many ways.
But yeah, we're down to what I told my mother about Christmas: you wanna see me, you drag your arse up here. Said lovingly, of course.
But I am really chuffed that we're able to do something in Chch finally.
But I shall attempt to persuade her to do a boozy Dunedin PA visit with me sometime next year.
Road trip!
being propositioned by people of both sexes
I kind of feel that I should mention that no PAS people misbehaved themselves on my trip, though they could hardly claim to "want to get to know me better".
