Brilliant!
Leonard Nimoy's DNA. I squeed so bad.
Also, know what Leonard (not Nimoy) sleeps in after sex? There's a t-shirt. And some boxers... Does nobody sleep naked in the States?

What is everyone else supposed to be seeing in it?
We loved it, which is unsurprising given how many 'the physics are stupid in X fantasy series' discussions I've sat through (alright, led).
Since it's been on TV we've been watching it with our kids, and our nearly-14 yo son thinks it's hilarious. It's not exactly difficult for him to identify with.
Which is a long and involved way of saying that Geek is the New Black.

So, this means I'm not the only person with a list of OF characters in order of bonkability? (Basically, you just make a list in order of niceness, and then tip it upside down.)
if I happened to be bisexually inclined...
Don't let me get in your way, I'll be in the basement.
Thanks for that, Emma :-)
That's okay, love, think of it as the gift that'll keep on giving for several years to come.

Do you mean that The L Word has realistic sex scenes?
Heh, well it deviates from the Standard Sex Scene in one way, which is one way more than most shows do.
But I'm equally happy about the whole Hoochie Mamma philosophy - that you don't have to be angular and taut to be sexy.

Not to mention The L Word, although I guess that falls under your umbrella of "A couple of U.S. cable-only shows and British gay-specific dramas aside..."
Originally a long rambling paragraph that mentioned The L Word and Queer as Folk by name, then I thought about Torchwood, tried to go for 'anything Russell Davies touched', then my brain went off on a long digression about the peculiar nature of sex in Dr Who, and I felt the whole thing was best edited out.
I've got a number of friends who've never watched OF, and I try not to rant about how great it is too much because I know how off-putting that can be. It was years before I could get over the hype and start watching Battlestar Galactica.
But every year when a new series of OF starts, I get all worried that this year they'll have lost their touch, that the writing just can't keep going on at that standard.

Would you make an exception for HBO dramas such as Six Foot Under or True Blood? The sex in the latter is pretty damn spot-on (or so I have been told!)
Yeah, True Blood was one of the cable shows I had in mind there. I wonder if, though, the separation, the attitude that 'sex and violence goes on cable' is one of the things contributing to the increasingly strange wowserism of normal US prime time tv. ie You can do it over there, so we don't have to let you do it here. It gets really peculiar sometimes, and Two and a Half Men seems to be a really good example. The characters talk about sex constantly, but Charlie, the ultimate he-whore, is always shown in bed in a t-shirt, boxers, and sometimes socks.
This is the kind of thing I think about when I can't sleep.

I didn't even bother hashtagging, figured *everyone* would know what I was taking about.
I did actually pause last night trying to work out what hash-tag I should be using. The agony of the early adopter...
The poor job TV dramas usually make of portraying sex has always surprised me as well, given how accurate they are with everything else.
(I, for instance, used to live in a New York apartment at least as nice as the one on Friends.).
Ooh, ooh, I know this one! That's sarcasm, isn't it? I've been hearing about that...

What fascinated me at the time was the sheer theatre of what was described to me; because to my speculative (but informed) understanding, theatre is part of the placaebo effect.
My acupuncturist, who was also a GP, gave us (and I mean 'gave', not 'sold') moxa and taught my partner where to place the cones so we could do it at home.
Before I hit acupuncture, I'd had two years of 'conventional' medical treatment, which had culminated in large-dose painkillers for chronic pain, and anti-depressants at double the standard dose despite a psychiatrist confirming that I wasn't suffering from depression. I was extremely skeptical about acupuncture when I started, but prepared to give it a try because conventional medicine was making me sicker. After about nine months I was drug-free except for a melatonin supplement. I had less pain and more energy than I'd had since my daughter was born, and I don't care why.

I take it you are not one of those peple who would pay to have the accupuncturist attach nice-smelling waddding to the ends of the inserted needles.....and set fire to it ?
I've had Moxabustion. (I'm assuming that by 'wadding' you mean mugwort, anyway.) It feels lovely. Not on needles though, as little cones burned directly on my skin. Obviously the underlying 'theory' is bizarre, but the effect is much like a nice warm pin-point massage.

I before E except after C
, only when the sound is 'ee'
Got me out of a few sticky spelling situations that rule has.
"Except when sounded like 'ay', as in neighbour and weigh."
And, apparently, Feilding.
