Polity: On tour with The Boss, in reply to izogi,
It’s a clear example of why this type of negotiation process shouldn’t be so secret from public scrutiny.
Hear,hear!
Perhaps Toby Manhire, Understanding the Language of Politics can help us understand?
yeah nah. -
Polity: On tour with The Boss, in reply to Timmy Hayward,
Now the Nats are on offensive over Labour finally adopting a position (that took way too long!) against TPPA and will paint you into a corner over the dissension in the ranks.
Finally? Isn't it sensible to include the Caucus in discussions ?Too long? With no or limited information, how would you know whether to support it or not? Little is leader but with people like me sending mail opposing this Taking Peoples Power Away to many Mps I would expect him to discuss this with Caucus, which has happened and pretty soon after some information got released. They did have bottom lines of which they said ages ago that they would cross if accepted once these were taken to the table. That never happened. Shearer was part of that Caucus, Goff is leaving. They both have (imo) shown disrespect for everyone else in Labour , not just Little. As noted in todays Harold. Little is taking Shearer to task
"Tim Groser ran roughshod over bipartisanship.
. If people, as you have indicated, prefer the dishonest National government over decency that includes all New Zealanders in varying ways because of their well oiled machine, I can only see a black day for our Country as a whole.
I just wish people could listen to what's said over what's printed by what seems to be journalists with an agenda and 'gotcha' tactics. Of course if they researched like Russell Brown and some can, we would be far better informed than the type of info we get now. -
Hard News: Dirty Politics, in reply to linger,
So “prominent” means there’s a higher chance of rampant dickishness?

Hard News: A cog in the Mediaworks machine, in reply to Alfie,
But I suppose in TV3’s eyes trainee journos straight out of broadcasting school cost a lot less,
I suspect also more manageable/ pliable/compliant.

how sad we set the bar so low…
Which is why we give the highest honour to an All Black, pay tribute to any person helping the National Party agenda, and dismiss people with academic status on record. Hell, we basically even write January off in the news unless it involves the weather or road deaths

By hook or crook, The faux flag gets all the advertising . Saatchi & Saatchi would be proud, Julie Christie must be.

Envirologue: 1080, "eco-terrorism" and agendas, in reply to izogi,
At the time Media were looking at the changes from their point of view. I kept saying under the misuse of drugs act, Police could enter if they suspected misuse then they could discover other illegal activity which is what used to happen. The changes reprinted in '15 are some light reading, NOT!

Envirologue: 1080, "eco-terrorism" and agendas, in reply to izogi,
Have these provisions from sections 134 and 135 always been there, or were they introduced with terrorism changes, despite not requiring anything resembling terrorism?
Back in 2012 National with Act and Dunne changed the law.
Dominion post ran this at the time also. -
Envirologue: 1080, "eco-terrorism" and agendas, in reply to Rosemary McDonald,
If I were running the investigation I’d start with those people
What if you just wanted to look at a specific group of people, who'd be first?
