Hard News: Summer's record has come early, in reply to Jolisa,
Just watched The Social Network. Like.
Have you read Zadie Smith's take on the film in the NYRB? She takes the film apart in a way that's quietly brilliant, but not before summing up its appeal to archetype
Interesting piece. There is a reply to some aspects of her commentary here at The Tangled Web

Hard News: Do you like what we've done…, in reply to JackElder,
Very handy tip about clicking links Jack, thanks.
I only have the built in-type 'mouse' on my laptop which no middle key/scroller, but if I click both left and right simultaneously it opens in a new tab. -

Much longer at the moment, it seems. See my post of 20.26, Nov 11.

Hard News: Do you like what we've done…, in reply to David Cormack,
One complaint I do have though is I just re-read my old comments.
Yeah I also find that a bit disconcerting. (Re-reading my old comments, that is, not yours.)
Another slightly odd feature is that whenever you hover the cursor over a post (say, to copy some text) the message “flag as inappropriate” comes up. It almost feels like a suggestion: “Go on, flag Russell’s comment as inappropriate, you know you want to”.
Anyway, speaking of looking back at old posts, was this the first ever PAS comment, then?:

It is an option, isn't it? Hover over the "X minutes ago" to get the actual time/date.

Edit: okay, editing works the same…good…
hmm, except it seems if you go “Edit” then click “Cancel” nothing happens.
Back button does the job, though.Edit: Oh and you’ve still got that quirk with Italics where you have to put in an extra space after the italicised word to make it look right. (As I have not done above, but have here.)

Typekit is a stain on the interwebs
What’s Typekit? (Sorry, can’t be bothered looking up…)
Edit: okay, editing works the same...good...

Mostly just posting this as a test.
(Edit: Wow, you can edit well after the initial post.. this is 12.29 am.)

It's good to know that the Culture Warriors of the US have identified the real problem with the country: bears.
Truly beyond parody.
And yet, wasn't that in an episode of the Simpsons years ago? (Not going to hunt it down on YouTube while at work...)
