Hard News: Music! That one album, in reply to Ian Dalziel,
... even less in Wellington
(not due to windchill, but because the central city area is so small) -
Hard News: Music! That one album, in reply to mark taslov,
Hey, credit where it’s due: you want under-the-radar stealth, try listening for the keyboards in that mix! (Admittedly, YouTube over computer speakers is probably doing me few favours in that search.)

Hard News: Music! That one album, in reply to Alan Perrott,
Looking at the relevant sentence in Wikipedia, anonymity probably isn’t entirely the point: FG has chosen an accurate function-based label.

Speaker: Confessions of an Uber Driver…, in reply to BenWilson,
all the hallmarks of a driver falling asleep at the wheel
Which is of course what you'd expect with an exploitative system forcing drivers to work longer hours than is safe -- so it's all the more suspicious that other cases haven't come to public attention before.

hide the fact that they were Uber driving at the time
Which might partly explain the immediate response of the passengers in this case to leg it, despite their injuries! Though it’s also true that they were close to their destination, and that they were extremely drunk.
The only reasons this case made the news seem to be that (i) the passengers’ injuries were serious enough to require medical treatment; and (ii) one passenger was related to someone vaguely famous. -

Ah, thanks! and here I was trying out other topical possibilities such as “active fault” or – having just watched the GNS presentations suggesting a higher-than-previously-estimated risk of failure within the next 10 years – “Alpine Fault”.
(Mind you, most statements about faults remain perfectly comprehensible on replacing one F-word with another, e.g. “…and when that fucker ruptures, you can kiss goodbye to Westport.”) -

Dunning-Kruger effect. I feel it isn’t well known
Pfft, surely we’re all experts in it by now :?)
[In all seriousness, Kruger & Dunning 1999 is one of the most-cited papers in psychology.] -
Hard News: Public Address Word of the…, in reply to Ethan Tucker,
Flag and variants thereof featured in last year’s list, and (as subsequent results confirmed) we were pretty much over it even then.
