Capture: Upside Down, Inside Out, in reply to Gudrun Gisela,
Hi Gudrun, I take it your comment is about the outline of me above the anemones. You are quite right - and that one was a mixture of both. I had to create my own shadow in order to get a clear image of the little creatures - and just happened to include my silhouette!

Capture: Upside Down, Inside Out, in reply to Ian Dalziel,
Hi Ian, yes I saw (most of) that a while back. I found it extraordinary, appalling and awe-inspiring all at the same time !!!
I couldn't get through on your link but feel sure you are referring to this: Wasteland movie

Gorgeous girl! :-)

Rock pools – can’t get away from ’em… More than two worlds encapsulated here, I feel.

Capture: Upside Down, Inside Out, in reply to JacksonP,
Hi Jackson, I have read Tolkien quoted as having said of opposing traffic “Charge ’em and they scatter!” which I gather is what you do on a horse! He was a terror to his passengers apparently! Love the image!
Oh, and far out, Chris Waugh!

Solstice - cold, dark, stormy... Got out the Christmas tree. It has looked well enough dressed in high summer, but now in mid-winter I can see it definitely needs more sparkly, twinkly stuff on it. After dark it looked a little bit better!
During these stormy days and nights I re-read "The Dark is Rising" by Susan Cooper, set in a snow storm of another solstice of many years ago - and found it just as satisfying as ever...

And just to keep things (more or less) relevant, here is the anemone rock getting the deep suds wash yesterday… The second image is from further back: Wintry with a big capital W.

In this one the sea water is so clear that it is invisible. The area of rock in the lower part of the photo is exposed to the air, whereas the tiny anemones are under water

Here's a reflective one of me (so to speak) - taken in more clement weather than we have at the moment. I take special interest in these sea anemones and check on them when the tides allow - which is not all that often. I've written more about them here They are amazing little creatures, clinging on despite extreme shifts in their circumstance and environment
