Hard News: Drugs and why Dunne did it, in reply to Ross Bell,
Plus investment in health interventions.
I can see centrist governments going Californian and taxing the drugs but meaningful investment is rehab is unlikely with the current decreases of investment in the public sector.

I'm not buying the binary; legalise pot so we can concentrate criminal efforts on P.
So cannabis is everywhere but you can't buy it at a tinny house, eh? I suspect pot is a musohippy thing and P is a fuckitgenrent thing. I would be following the drug foundations approach to any drug use, namely any drug can fuck up your life, use needs care and friendly criticism and support. Legalise all drugs and get rid of the black market, legal sanctions and social stigma that interfere with a healthy attitude to recreational drug use. -

We got nice big juicy shared psychopaths in the west and pedestrians and speed cyclists tried to work it out. I think it took about two weeks before small and not so small petrol engined devices started to appear. Seriously the sound of an ill muffled trail bike coming around a blind corner on a walkway is truly terrifying. Why do we do this to each other?

The madness in the privatisation process of mental health services as mentioned is not just the the cherry picking for quick profitable outcomes but the flow on effects for other services who will be supporting the private profit, services like casualty departments of hospitals, shelters the police and justice services.

Is the government running down services to encourage privatisation in the mental health sector?
(The photograph in the herald article is quite odd, is Steven Joyces' body shrinking or is his head expanding?)
