I was tempted to go with pun crock, but you're obviously more generous.

    Anachronism in the OK Corral.

  • recordari,

I do hope Emma and others don't get the impression we (well I should speak for myself I guess) I have moved past all the amazing and important stuff on this thread, and that Rosie has found some help.

Maybe we need a net ball court. Like this, only virtual.

  • Ian Dalziel,

Ditto, I apologise for having worsted the thread,
and at the risk of becoming a one-trick pony, I may
take a long nap and leave repartee central to the admirable Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

  • Emma Hart,

Pff, if I ever have a problem with what's happening to a discussion thread, you can be very sure that I'll tell you. If I haven't said "Oi, stop being a cock," you're probably okay.

  • recordari,

    Righto then. Puns away.

    "Oi, stop being a cock,"

Dressed for suck-suss, this is bad mint on.

Having watched the extra 10 minutes of Media7, Pam Crockery gives new meaning to the term 'ladies a plate'.

[I really must do some work. Emma, please, stop this now!!]

  • Sue,

    Hi rosie

I def get some advocacy help
In wellington places like the downtown community ministry and the people's resource center are wonderful
they have staff who are trained up to help you navigate (and if need be navigate for you) the entire winz process.

My mum acts as my advocate and trust me it helps so much to have someone go with you, and who can speak for you. I dread calling winz up so mum does it all for me.

  • Ian Dalziel,

How apt that you should mention 'ladies a plate'
as this is one of the events at the upcoming
    Christchurch Writers' Festival Sept 9 - 12

    Ladies, a Plate
An Afternoon Tea with Alexa Johnston and Rosemary McLeod on Thursday 9 September.

and flying the flag for Public Address – David Haywood is featured in a panel on Saturday the 11th called Pressed into Service chaired by no lesser personage than Philip Matthews (who is also one of the festival Trustees)

and I know all this 'cos I just finished printing all
the tickets - gawd this is such a small town...

It's really just an excuse to get David Haywood to read one of his Alan Bollard stories before a (hopefully shocked) writers festival audience -- especially as the actual Bollard will be around that weekend, launching his own book ...

    never mind the Bollards...

    ...Don Abel Fan Club...

interesting to note that for a Head of Operations
and Assistant Guv'nor at the Reserve Bank he has
a Master of Arts from Uni of Auckland and a PhD
    in Geography from Victoria Uni...
Wonder what I could parlay my two subjects in School Cert into...

  • Hebe,

Lilith put me on to this thread today -- and I have spent the afternoon reading it. Fascinating in that much of human life is here, everything from debilitating chronic illness to children to shout at alarm clocks ( I had a Braun and tossed it when I decided I never again wanted to start my day by yelling "Fuck. Up. Now" and worse. )

So much courage and compassion and humour. (Twins with a tarpaulin; hehhe)

What happened to the obnoxious Peter from Dundee? Did Emma get him whacked?

  • Emma Hart, in reply to Hebe,

Good timing Hebe: I appear to be on the brink of a relapse. Which means, of course, that I should be very careful with myself for the next week or so, and SlutWalk is Sunday.

Yeah, I can totally do this. Remember that guy from China who said I was raising my kids wrong? Haven't seen him around lately either, have you?

Really sorry to hear you're feeling crappy though. Take care of yourself. I recommend my toyoharist for keeping one step ahead of collapse...but you know that.
    Hugs!

I may have made that word up! But it's someone who does a style of Japanese acupuncture called Toyohari. It's much gentler than Chinese acupuncture and a number of us with CFS have found it helpful.
