  • Rob Stowell,

Kyle: if it's just his feet, I think they'd have been shy of the line- he was sliding towards the ball on the ground, arms out-stretched, feet following along- as I recall. The ball sat up rather oddly, too- unless that was just the way the vt operator was playing with it. The TMO made the decision quickly and decisively, and just possibly knows the rules better than most of us (including the motley Sky commentary crew- champions all!- but you excepted!)

  • Rob Stowell,

And yeah, with yas on the nervous feeling about playing France. They don't seem to be playing that well, which is suspicious in itself. It seems absurd for them to go down in Cardiff, with the final in Paris. Perhaps they'll be playing absurdiste rugby?

  • Lisa Clist,

And yes, I think the All Blacks will run right over France in Cardiff. It won't even be close. Apart from the relative merits of the two teams on the field, there will be the crowd.

I'm very nervous about playing the RWC hosts, especially after seeing the crowd up in Edinburgh. Despite the tide of black heading to the game, there seemed to be more French than there were of either Scots or Kiwis. And they definitely know how to cheer for les Bleus, and know the words to La Marseillaise inside-out and backwards!

When it comes to the crunch, les Bleus know how to lift their game, and there's no bigger deciding match than against the ABs in the quarters.

  • Hadyn Green,

Actually when it comes to the crunch, France fold like tissue. When there's nothing to lose they play like geniuses (ie. the 1999 RWC)

There was a definite unease this week when the Dropkicks went to pick the result of the French-AB quarterfinal. It's strange to be this nervous this early on in the competition.

And as for Stellenbosch, who is that idiot? Quite a few rules in rugby need a boot in the arse (dropkick rules anyone?) but making it more like league, how is that better?

    Paddy O'Brien apparently.
