And Ireland, with two runs required, do it in style ...
**41.4** Azhar Mahmood to Johnston, SIX, Johnston swings and clubs the ball out of the ground over long-on. The crowd go mad as Billy Bowden's bent fingers are raised aloft ...
Awesome. Shame it wasn't on telly.

I used to think that myself and the person who put Stephen Fleming in an oversize Rexonna can-suit were the only people who could see past his dashing good looks and occasional good innings and see him for what he is - a player who goes through wild variations of form deserving of mild humiliation and critique rather than the awed reverance he has received for the last 10 years.
As there are other competent captains out there I had hoped that the selectors might have rested him during his long patches of poor form - I suspect that they simply preferred to keep a Christchurch old boy in charge rather than bring an outsider in.

Well, dravid goes in on a sketchy wicket after all that has been said in the media and loses, then pakistan go down to a raucous ireland on st patricks day, has anyone seen M.K.Gupta lately?

Well make that three of us. I would add that his much-heralded captaining skills are similarly variable. When under pressure in the field he often adopts his patented "stunned mullet" expression and is unable to do anything helpful.
Then there are the spin bowlers he obviously has no confidence in even when they're picked and standing on the field (Wiseman, and now Patel to a certain extent).

R.I.P. Bob Woolmer
I hope the pakistan fans screaming abuse outside the hotel where he was found unconscious had nothing to do with it. -
And there's absolutely no truth to the rumour Bob was last seen boating with Freddie Flintoff.

Can I start a minor conspiracy theory? Me and a fellow Kiwi mate living in Barbados, noticed that with the Black Caps beating England, that would make us top of the heap (i.e. C1) and mean that we would have some of our Super 8 matches played here in Barbados. Yeeha, thinks we. Until we check the on-line timetable again, scratch our heads and notice that C1 no longer plays here, but C2 does. So I wonder off to cricinfo.com and ask their commentators during the Kenya match now on, "what's going on lads?"...their response, "Er ... it's all about tourism and who plays where, so that people could book to ensure they followed their team and didn;t end up paying $5000 to watch someone they didn't want to see."...that hardly seems fair. Now I have to fly to Grenada or Antigua to see the Black Caps play again. That is of course, until the FINALS!
