From an ethical and legal point of view, they're probably pretty pissed off. But in terms of advertising revenue, craccum probably benefited from this whole scandal.
I don't think so, and here's why: For the sake of argument, I'm the National Party's campaign director, and I sign a contract with our host to run a banner advert on Public Address for a week. And someone hacks the site so nobody sees the damn thing. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the fraking exercise? And do you really think that wouldn't have other advertisers asking themselves whether PA is really a good allocation of an ad buy?
Fairly or not, student media is always working against the perception of being... well, amateur hour run by a pack of student wallys. Don't see how this helps at all. I just don't see how companies would really be keen to be held hostage to student political bullshit.
