Sofie -- But he has returned to TVNZ, bringing his drivel to Q + A on Sunday morning. And his feeble sign-off line, "Those were the questions and those were the answers", is obviously meant to be this decade's sequel to his classic, "Those were our people today ..." line. Prepare to go ballistic, or just vomit, as you say.

  • Danielle,

Speaking of vile people, I was reading a story at the Herald Online about Ryanair thinking about charging a fat tax. I made the mistake of looking at "Your Views". And it was a mistake.

Shudder. I can feel the waves of Haterade from here.

It always is. You should know better. But I know what it's like. You tell yourself: "I'll just take a wee peek... just one little peek.... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

Having said that, there is a 'your views' up at the moment about the tax cuts, or possible future lack thereof.

More amusement than normal to be gleaned from it.

If the Your Views mob really want to practice what they preach, they might as well form a militia. And hope against hope they'll be Ruatoki'ed - or better still, Waco'ed.

  • Heather W.,

Since P Holmes has been mentioned in this thread, I'll mention the flyer that came with the NZ Herald today. Front has 'olmes picture and the following words

Taking the P out of Paul Holmes to take the P out of New Zealand

(all in uppercase). It's to be a celebrity roast with the usual suspects. Prices start at $290 +gst a seat.

Is there still anyone out there willing to pay that sort of money for that group of well basically old [insert phrase of choice here] and wouldn't a donation direct to the Stellar Trust be better?

Indeed. I've selected some choice cuts:

No we should still get our tax cuts and all working people should recieve a huge monetary bonus. Just cut all the unemployed and beneficiaries money handouts and give it back to those that deserve it. Let the weak die off and the strong grow stronger. I remember Mr Key promising tax cuts but I cant remember Henry Clark promising anything, oh wait she was more interested in downing John Key and his achievements.

... In order to pay for this slash the public sector (it is bloated and inefficient), slash welfare (make the lazy bums get out of bed before midday and do some work), and cancel all treaty payouts.

Remember National, you were voted in to remove the effects of a decade of communist government, if you drop the tax reforms you will have no credibility. Grow some nads and stop trying to appease the Labour mob.

Stop the tax cuts? Never! That's our money we are trying to get back from those thieves!

Let them clean out some of the 400odd useless Govt Depts and make 10,000 bureaucrats get a haircut and a real job!

The Govt should trim its spending to match its income, just as the rest of us have to!

If they weren't taking so much to give to their useless drones the private sector would be in a far better situation right now!

Actually, while I'm certainly not volunteering for it (no account of my weak constitution) I think that a Your Views Watch-style blog with choice excerpts from that particular cesspool would be a great public service. I'd suggest it to Jake but then he'd immediately lose interest.

I don't think that's a one-man job. I think that requires a team, under frequent rotation, who get regular SAN-checks.

OTOH, last year Kiwiblog just made me mad. The last couple of months I've snuck back, and it's hilarious . It's as if Ibsen wrote comedies about getting what you want and discovering it's impossible for you to be happy because you've been completely pickled in bile.

This reminds me of someone I've sort of 'known' as part of the same community on Teh Internets for about ten years. He's spent a decade backing the wrong horse in US elections, ranting and raving about 'Rethuglicans' - someone Craig might actually be justified in terming 'the loony left'. Finally, last year, he picked a winner in Obama, spending months telling us all that Obama would be the leader of a radical reform movement and change the world immediately he was elected. Obama was The One!

After the election, he suddenly went silent for a few months. Two weeks ago he returned with an absolute vengeance as... a 9/11 'Truther' and conspiracy theorist about the One World Order of Which Obama is a Pawn. It's like he was mentally incapable of adjusting to being on the winning side. It was a truly amazing turnaround.

  • Stewart,

I like the ones indicating that the Nats shouldn't rescind the tax-cuts because they were an election promise when the obvious retort would be that that is exactly why they should rescind them - after all, they were only an election promise...

Editing the Herald already does it much better, actually. But I can't resist finding gems and sharing them. Also, too lazy for a blog.

I recommend that anyone in need of a laugh goes on and have a look - you're guaranteed to feel better about yourself.

I've been having fun on the Kiwiblog UN racism conference thread pointing out that the "evil" Humans Rights Commission and Race Relations Conciliator were offices established under National governments. The response: well Muldoon and Bolger were obviously lefties.

    Indeed.

Emma, thats pretty much a description of A Doll's House, except Ibsen was never as funny as Chekhov.
