NZ On Screen has just released a collection of 21 music videos either featuring or directed by Chris Knox.
The collection features background pieces written by Roger Shepherd and Russell Brown and links to his website and the Stroke album.

NZ On Screen is the business. That's great.

Another big tip from this direction for the album -- it's very very good and, in places, extraordinary.
Will Oldham's version of 'My Only Friend' literally made me me cry.
Anyway, I'll have my sort-of-review up on Monday.
BTW, if any Wellingtonians would like to be n the audince for a Media7 recording today (as part of the SPADA conference), present yourselves at Shed 11 at 3.30pm.
Guests include Broadcasting minister Jonathan Coleman, Jane Wrightson, John Barnett ad Australian producer Nick Murray. Tainui Stephens and Derek Fox will also be joining me for a chat about te reo in mainstream broadcast.

And how's this for a rare gem -- Toy Love on Australia's Countdown pop show in 1980, performing 'Squeeze':
Yowza!

I was watching that yesterday and was unduly fascinated by Chris' pompadour...

as I recall The Angels were on that show too
and Chris was attempting to bribe the audience to scream louder by throwing money to them prior to filming...
...no Britney outrage back then - nary a lead to any of the instruments you'll note...Shame that Rog and NZ on Screen didn't track down the Chills clip Chris did in the kitchen at Hakanoa st and featuring stop motion food ingestion (reversed) and the band in full body paint leaping about on Richmond Road - sadly only ever broadcast once (I think)

We're getting married in March and plan to walk in to the ceremony accompanied by the sounds of yogic chanting & bells by Ravi Shankar....and to walk out to sounds courtesy of Chris Knox.

The idea of the Mint Chicks doing "Crush" and Shayne Carter doing "The Slide" does it for me.
-
unduly fascinated by Chris' pompadour...
Definitely real, unlike Countdown frontman Molly Meldrum's prosthetic.

I seldom pay for music but I'm putting this on my Christmas list. The dude is a legend and one of my all time favorite artists. I can't help but smile at the candidness of the title.

I love that hair. I am more, however, in love with that jacket.

Is there a Biro Art section in the
World of Wearable Art awards?
They, or some similar repository of the nation's treasures, needs to display the best of our performers' stage attire - The Noel Crombie section (Split Enz) would be great under blacklight!
(There was a Toy Love single in Te Papa
for a while - is it still there? Don't ask me !)
