  • Mark Easterbrook,

There must be a word for the recorded-yet-destined-never-be-watched TV sitting around in boxes all over the world

    PVRiously unseen footage?

  • Craig Ranapia,

So you're saying that Chris Warner is going to be revealed to be Chris R Warne, the secret half-brother of Shane Warne? Cos that would be awesome.

Speaking of which... who'd have thunk Shane Warne had enough self-awareness to take the piss out of himself (and be pretty funny) on Kath and Kim. Disturbingly convincing playing a crap Shane Warne look-alike who is terrible at cricket and doesn't own a mobile.

  • Craig Ranapia,

And here's another question for the ages: What the hell were the people who gave Tim Burton the greenlight to make a blood-splattered film of Stephen Sondheim's __Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street__ on? Because if the trailer is any indication, Burton is finally back on on the top of his deliciously twisted form. Who doesn't want a period slasher musical starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter for Christmas?

  • JP Hansen,

I'm finding Californication hilarious. Very witty lines. The only thing is I keep thinking it's an hour long and then it wraps up in 30 and I'm always, Huh?

And then the exact same right after with 30 Rock (Thank you TV3 for bringing it back!) - Settling in for an hour of laughs, and it's all over.

Final of Conchords tonight too. Damn I'm gonna miss that.

Picked up Ewan Macgregor and Charley Boorman's 'Long Way Round' motorbike trek across the Northern Hemisphere series on DVD (I completely missed it on NZ TV, no doubt it was on at 11pm or something). It's bloody entertaining - it's not often I get feelings of jealousy when watching TV, but this series certainly brings it on.

  • Jackie Clark,

JP, I completely agree about Californication. Witty, clever, dry. I do like David Duchovny. And did anyone else see the Filth and the Fury on C4 last night. Bloody good. I wasn't into the Sex Pistols, and I think Rotten is a bit of a wanker, but it was a really honest look at the whole phenomenon, I thought.

  • Sara Noble,

Speaking of Depp, look out for Shantaram - but read it before you see it. Especially the bits about the bears. And the stools.

What I Really Want for Christmas (2009) is Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett doing "The Time Traveller's Wife", but apparently the film rights are caught up in the Aniston-Pitt matrimonial property. Goddess save us!

Isn't that another project that's shutdown until the writer's strike is over - which looks like it will be over just in time for equally fraught contract re-negotiations with the Screen Actors and Directors Guilds. Might be time to dust off those copies of Proust and Tolstoy... :)

  • Rob Hosking,

Up at 4am with the toddler and as I tried to get to sleep afterwards my thoughts turned to the Shortie St Serial Killier....

I think it's Hunter's parents. Both of them (don't know, don't care what their names are)

And they wanted to kill Tess, but felt they couldn't because Hunter was in love with her. This is why they were so mad.

    It all fits.

Oh, and Hunter - lucky bastard. Lucky lucky bastard. For any bloke (OK, any hetero bloke) who remembers what it was like being 17, he's living the dream.

Well I'm a huge fan of the Sex Pistols and still consider them to be the best of all the punk bands. They worked the media, had the look, had the sound and when I first saw them on Radio With Pictures in hot boring Blenheim in 1977 they took my adolescent head off. I still reckon Steve Jones has one of the best guitar sounds ever.

Anyway, the Pistols movies are like a tale of 2 lies, but I much prefer the Rotten one in F&F to the McLaren one in R&R Swindle. Still own both of them though!

The interview with Sid in F&F is heartbreaking and shows a picture of a young man that we never got to see when he was alive.

Eric Bana's cast as Henry & Rachel McAdams will be Clare.

Eric Bana lying around naked everywhere? Yes please! But I find Rachel McAdams somewhat bland, which might be a good thing I suppose, if she's given a good character to play.

They just don't do it for me - need a bit more edge. what about eddie norton and ummm, Clare needs to be a bit more luscious, Scarlett Johanson, too much so, ummm, well I guess Natalie Portman can do anything. They'd make another must see-pair.

Oh, and getting back to the Shortland Street "leak", http://hubris.co.nz/entry.php?id=708311217 at the last Great Blend I told Tom from TVNZ that they should put all the alternative endings online. What further proof do we need that it's totally a setup?

To be a bit off-topic - does anyone else find that googly-eyed creature to the left there eerily reminiscent of the faux-surrealist sketch in Monty Python's Meaning of Life?

Than Rachel McAdams? I thought that Kate Beckinsale could do it - but McAdams is one to watch in future, in my opinion.

Last night's Outrageous Fortune, written by James Griffin, had this brilliant dialogue.

Pascalle had walked into the West's dining room wearing her work uniform - a tight singlet with "NUNGA'S" emblazoned across the bosom, and a short skirt.

LORETTA: If you insist on showing your tits, does it have to be with bad punctuation?

    PASCALLE: What the fuck?!

LORETTA: Nungas, as in two tits, doesn't need an apostrophe. Unless the bar is owned by a Mr Nunga, but I highly doubt that's the case.

I still think Depp and Blanchett have it. But as a friend has been arguing today, Depp actually isn't the perfect Lin Baba! He's supposed to be tall, skinny, sinfully ugly, warm with sinister undertones, droll but capable of Bollywood romance. Hmmm. I know! John Campbel! l
