I doubt this proposal is even intended to have actual policy value. I think it’s a pretty transparent play for sympathetic media coverage TBH.
Somehow I doubt ACT is returning to its ‘classical liberal’ roots as it claims to be doing – it’s always been more economically libertarian than it has been socially libertarian, which has been contentious with actual libertarian Libertarians. Muriel Newman and her cohorts took that notion to its logical extreme – she combines ACT’s economics with Colin Craig’s social policy – which is not unlike the world view of the US Republican establishment.
