Island Life: Publishers in crisis!

  • Juha Saarinen,

Now I don't believe in hell in the after life, religious sense, but more as in here and now. It would seem Mr Slack has just bought an entry ticket to such a place with his blog posting, and no, I don't think his torment will take place in the Auckland Stadium with ginified Devonportonians weeping at the sight.

  • Robyn Gallagher,

That was brilliant. Genuinely lol. I'm going to make Mr Slack a lol cake with fresh lol cream (not that fake lol creme stuff).

I feel left out. I wrote a book once, you know. Well, I wrote some of it ...

  • David Slack,

An unpardonable oversight. I'll knock one up for you.

I'm thinking "The Great New Zealand Ass-Whipping," but I'm open to alternatives.

Thanks, you others, for the compliments, and the cake. Juha, if you'd like a slice when it arrives, feel free to saunter across the road to join me in purgatory.

Don't forget David Slack's Bullshit, Backlash and a Bunch of Other Stuff I Didn't Know About at the Time of the First Edition and Graham Reid's Postcards from Parliament: Probably Safer Than Emails ...

David, you're obviously between books & speeches at the moment - but how'd you mock up the covers like that?

Better yet, wrap it all into a movie starring Clint Eastwood: "A Shitload of Emails and a Fistful of Donors"

Llew, the problem/reason is in fact that I am *not* between books & speeches at the moment. Photoshop.

  • Don Christie,

Hah, and I thought it was just a ruse to get in early and steal Russell's thunder this morning. I bet Russell Brown was awake all night dreaming up the magic words that would shake NZ. I can only imagine the crinkly lips when he saw the what this usurper had done.

Will this "Stadium Stoush" know no end?

Will this "Stadium Stoush" know no end?

No stoush. It's complementarity: David is clever and I am merely earnest.

How about then: Lock Stock & Ten Thousand Smoking Emails?

BTW - this number can't be correct surely? I doubt I've written 10,000 emails in my entire life, and I am prolific, I find it hard to believe the Donald could have done it.

Russell, rumour has it that it is important to be earnest.

  • David Slack,

If I'm clever, how do I end up living within swimming distance of a 24 hour construction site?

Don, we are in fact so euphonious that within six words of the opening, both of this morning's posts say precisely the same thing.

Perhaps he's counting the inward-bound viagra ones.

On that note, a friend has emailed a further suggestion: 'The End of the Affair" by Diane Foreman.

  • Don Christie,

Ok, I admit it, I looked up "euphonious" and come up with "smooth-sounding". Dam online dictionaries.

Well, you are Aucklanders, so maybe that's what you meant...

I meant to imply "not discordant", but this may be one of those Freudian slips in which you say one thing when you mean your mother.

or in the case of the Importance of being Don ....to lose one email may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose 10,000 looks like carelessness.
