  • Steve Barnes,

    Raymond.
Yes, unfortunately it is not at all uncommon for prosecutors to "overstep" their burden of proof threshold. By going for a murder conviction they needed a greater degree of proof than if they had gone for a "lesser" charge.

  • Don Christie,

If I had time I would troll through posting by I/S and others around the time certain members of the police force were "getting off" in their trials.

Whilst you might have said something similar about how the law works the absolute outrage expressed in those writings was palpable. Maybe also worth looking back at some of PA posts during and after the "terror" raids.

So, sure, make the point about why the law works in the way it does but why you think people, including Clark, should not express dismay at this outcome is beyond me.

  • Steve Barnes,

Like I said way back in this thread.

Clark stated that she has concerns, as do many others. I think that you would be pushing it to say that she was putting pressure on the police to change anything, she was "urging" the police not to let it drop. That, in my view, is acceptable behavior for anyone, including the Prime Minister.

  • FletcherB,

But Clark didnt just express dismay.... which (in my mind) would be perfectly reasonable.... she almost directed the police to take specific action.... and that IS going too far...

  • Steve Barnes,

    Sigh.
There you go. The thread goes full circle. I'm off.
