Voting? Don’t bother, Key has won.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11325841I can only think of a couple of possibilities for this article
1 Fran O'Sullivan is deranged
2 Fran O'Sullivan is really very stupid
3 Fran O'Sullivan is saying things she knows are not true in an effort to support Key
4 Someone at the National party wrote this propaganda and Fran O'Sullivan agreed to post it under her nameSome of those possibilities are not mutually exclusive.
In all seriousness I find it interesting the way people can, quite seriously, say things like this. In a way it's a fascinating piece of self delusion. They come to the discussion having already decided that, for example, Key is honest, and then interpret every piece of data in a way that supports that view.
For some it is unconscious bias, they don't even realise they are doing it, and that is true to some degree for all of us. For others it is self-serving dishonesty, they know what they are saying is bollocks but they say it anyway because it is personally profitable.
There appear to be a few too many of the latter in the media of late.

You soothsayer you ! I pray you're right.

Another load of shoot the messenger tripe. You don't like the conclusions Fran O'Sullivan comes to so you lash out at her personally.
Fran isn't deranged, nor is she really stupid nor is she a liar...all of which you suggest she is.
And nor did Fran agree to run a story edited by the Nats under her own name.Rather than dish out defamatory abuse, I suggest you go into a darkened room and chant a million times " Maybe Fran got it right, maybe Fran got it right... etc etc etc.
That exercise might just bring you to your senses in some self-hypnotic kind of a way..

What with Armstrong’s hysterical tango in the same paper this morning I can only ascribe it to a major wine-spo-dee-o-dee shebang of doubt the night before and now, like sore-headed penitents scoured by the harsh, judgemental light on the church steps of a sunday morning, they are washed clean and praising the GodKey.

Have you checked out whether those mushrooms you had last night were by any chance, magic?

CJM, in reply to
Good one. Have you been providing joking Jonkey with his ‘quips’?
-
Was it really that good ? !!
-
Bart Janssen, in reply to
You don’t like the conclusions
Actually I just think the conclusions she draws are very very obviously false. Everything Greenwald and Snowden have said in the last couple of days directly contradict her conclusions. That leaves her article as something of a masterwork of delusion, self or otherwise.

Was it really that good ? !!
No.
-
Jake Starrow, in reply to
Coming to conclusions you disagree with, however vehemently, doesn't make her a liar, an imposter, really dumb or deranged as you directly accuse Fran O'Sullivan of being.
She's a highly-respected journalist and doesn't deserve such defamatory tosh.
Lift your game ! -
When do we find out which herald writers' sock puppet the inconsistently named jake is?

Certainly did.
Ryan sounded angry with Harre, almost like she thought IMP had 'ruined' things by letting the foxes into the chicken run.
She bickered, harangued and constantly talked over Harre. All this after a shambolic and incoherent 'interview' with Bruce Ferguson in which she swallowed hook, line etc the 'Cortex' red herring docs planted by Key and the intelligence services.
Today was patsy time with Key, letting him stir up all the issues into an even darker shit-brown hue of confusion and misinformation.
Be interesting to hear how she does with Cunliffe tomorrow. -

Lift your game !
To the level of your game Jake ?
What is your game by the way? -

His game is keepy-uppy ... with Key's ever-changing story.
Sunday: No middle ground, no ambiguity, I'm right, he's wrong.
Today: Well, that was then, this is now ...

Be gentle with Jake, it's hard to run spin lines if you have to defend constantly changing positions. New day, new memo.

Sorry Mr S Puppet, but that statement is as absurd as claiming that Hosking and Henry are both respected journos. When it comes to judging journalistic credentials, I'm afraid that National Party approval doesn't count.
On the other hand, Glenn Greenwald is a highly respected journalist.

FranO's not stupid, she just has vested interests with multi-nationals.
-
Bart Janssen, in reply to
FranO’s not stupid
Yeah I didn't think 1 and 2 were reasonable either but that makes 3 and 4 more likely, which is sad. Or there could be another explanation that I hadn't considered.
-
Jake Starrow, in reply to
what a jerk you are for referring to me as a puppet. Alfie's bile is typical of many lefties I'm speaking to or hearing from who are showing obvious terror that the Key man is about to command another 3 years. The fat man charade was doomed to fail. And no discrediting respectable journalists changes that an iota.
-
Greg Dawson, in reply to
I believe I’m the one that called you a puppet first, so there’s no need to take it out on Alfie.
And nobody here needs to discredit the ‘respectable’ Fran, she does that perfectly well herself, in the herald.

SteveH, in reply to
[Key] said he might respect the ‘loser’ if he’d come 6 months before, or after, the election with these revelations, not 5 days before.
I'd be more inclined to believe this if it weren't for Key's track record. Jon Stephenson made his allegations outside the election campaign and got exactly zero respect from Key anyway. In fact he got treated in the exact same way has Key has treated Hager and Greenwald.

Danielle, in reply to
Tangentially, Jake, I think we're all aware that Kim Dotcom is both fat and German. Neither of those descriptors are insults as far as I'm concerned, but you seem to think they are? Maybe you could give them a rest.
-
Jake Starrow, in reply to
Not really getting your drift Danielle. As you say, calling .com fat and a german is factual but referring to me as a puppet is not.
-
Danielle, in reply to
Here is my drift: I'm politely telling you that the personal remarks about Dotcom are tiresome and played.
