The section on "Human Rights" is astounding: basically this breaches international human rights law but wtf it has got to be done. Point 63: councils can get facts wrong so if you can't challenge on basis of factual error, that should be adequately justified (not changed but justified)

Fucking hell: worse than I had thought.
Really need a lawyer to analyse this because as an amateur I can see so many flaws in democracy I don't know where to start. It seems to say Cantabrians have no recourse to the rule of law and the same courts that apply in the rest of NZ. Or am I being overly dramatic?

IIRC there were six priority measures implemented, all of which have done well.
Shorter stays in emergency departments, Improved access to elective surgery, Shorter waits for cancer treatment, Increased immunisation, Better help for smokers to quit, More heart and diabetes checks.
All of which are good things, but which don't constitute the entirety of a health system. Because of their important in funding, they've taken on a very high degree of importance, to the detriment of other effective interventions.

The whole thing is sleazy as hell, but on the other hand I don't think Adams is close enough to cause a conflict of interest legally. Ethically and politically, of course, it is truly abhorrent.

It's not unlike Sir Joh's Queensland. The biggest difference is the overt absence of batons-and-shields-for-hire.

Not Hebei. There are plenty of wetlands in the area, but it's bone dry from autumn through to spring, and the pollution....
Also, NZ has been exporting dairy cows to China to help Chinese farms build up their own herds of top-quality milk-producing cows.

I don't know. And it's taken me a few days and several different arrangements of search terms, but finally I found a story on something I read about and stupidly neglected to blog a couple of weeks ago: Green Valley Dairies, producers of Oravida, recently had some of their milk held up in Guangzhou (article in Chinese, but you can see Green Valley Dairies Ltd listed in English as the producer) for not meeting Chinese standards. Maybe irrelevant, but...

Well, as you can see, it does well enough with lists and technical terms - the kinds of things for which there is a direct correlation between words in L1 and L2, but even then "Jiashibaoba pasteurized" probably is better rendered as "Jiashibao [because product name - don't translate, only transliterate, unless you can find an official English name] pasteurised". The garbled grammar of the first bit, though... Well, you get a good enough idea. I've certainly seen worse machine translation.

Yeah, I know Hebei doesn't have a Waikato climate (having Googled it). I guess it's strictly cows in sheds there, but it's near enough to Beijing for "town supply".
My point is really that there are plenty of places in the world with a reasonably cow-friendly climate and undeveloped dairying.
