Thank you, Grant. I expect some tech gnome will update the Labour Party website presently. :)
Perhaps Slater and Ede might have a go;-)

I have an attachment to (c) Centre party splits off Labour and picks up the 20% in the middle. I mean if they are neo-liberals who will never vote for Labour (again, since many probably did in 2008 or before) why not create another party to give them an alternative to National?
NZ political history is littered with the wreckage of such parties. United NZ, Future NZ, United Future, the Liberals (the 1990s one, not the 1890s one), the Social Credit/Democrats, Christian Democrats, you name it. NZ First is the only one that still survives, but it’s too populist for ‘Lib Dem’ types.

Hope ACC is all set up for the consequences...

the coastal geezers of Ak 2040
get another platform to whine about their impending loss of lifestyle, courtesy Mr Orsman and whatever disaffected council member or staffer leaked draft maps to him. Intensification in the South would also be bad, they reckon, but for different reasons:
He said apartments in poorer areas of Auckland raised issues of overcrowding for large Pacific Island and Maori families and other social issues.
If we want stupidity like that in local government, we can elect it.

More housing = more overcrowding? Wow, that's an impressive leap of logic.

and check the sense of entitlement in this fragment (though being Orsman there's no guarantee of accuracy):
Auckland 2040 had agreed to relax density controls

Ben Ross writes about what that action means. Like him, I'm more likely to believe it's one of the councillors. Previous utterances should narrow the pool of those willing to flout their solemn obligations over this particular topic.
