  • Ross Bell,

Quick note re standard for saliva. As we understand it, there is a standard but no tests meet it, and there is no standard to train testers to. But yes, saliva seems promising in that it tests for recent use, thus a good proxy for impairment. It's complicated.

  • Alfie,

:... there is a large group of New Zealanders using cannabis illegally in ways that are at least as much therapeutic as “recreational”. Adult use of cannabis isn’t just one thing"

Nailed it. What's not to like about a drug that sends arthritis to the background AND makes you feel a bit pleasant.

The fact of people potentially enjoying their medicine – and there not necessarily being a clear line between those two things – is surprisingly challenging.

  • Tadhg Stopfordnz,

It would have been nice to see, in the ‘impacts on drug use’ section any mention of possible reduction in pharmaceuticals and gang revenues. These were submitted to the panel. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334389736_Do-It-Yourself_medicine_The_impact_of_light_cannabis_liberalization_on_prescription_drugs , https://www.researchgate.net/publication/327574448_Light_cannabis_and_organized_crime_Evidence_from_unintended_liberalization_in_Italy

  • Home homemart,

It would be interesting to see the age breakdown of National voters with this. Just how much of an aging party are they?

The suppliers of product to the existing market all being gang members is a largely boomer myth that has not helped the image of cannabis.

  • Shep Cheyenne,

What about the cannibis victim blaming about the large percentage of the population suseptible to psychosis. Any screening for the safety of the population?
I'm on anti this and anti that at the moment. I smoked dope as a teen, not heavily, just a puff a parties. Family link too with a schizophrenic uncle who grew his own on the coast.
    Any safety steps for screening?
