That was weird: Craig and Russell appear to have Freaky Friday'd themselves.
But the fortune cookie looked so delicious!

I call dibs on Lady Haden-Guest's body.

Leaving aside fortune cookies, one thing I could bloody well do without is the ALP's rhetoric about Working-frigging-Families. It's deeply patronising. I'm not in a fucking family. I have plenty of friends who can't work. So does govt policy get to ignore us?
Unfortunately, La Gillard is one of the worst at rolling out that particular phrase. I hope she will cease-and-desist. Soon.

Rather unfortunate timing for a feature in this week's Listener: 'Is Rudd a dud?' Well, yes.

Is it my imagination, or is the evolving Aus federal
election campaign starting to look one hell of a lot
like the one we had over here back in 2002?Altogether now...."Breaking the AAA-bbott..."
Just as long as the LNC realise that this is the twenty
first century and replace Mr Screechy with someone
who is untainted by the Poison Dwarf's regime of the
nineties and noughties...Craig Y

From my time in Oz I got the impression that Australians are very easily scared politically. It was quite a weird feeling that they talk so tough, but are such sooks about some things.
Yeah, that's about true. It's partly a symptom of their electoral system, which sees them relatively more dependent on swing voters than NZ. Swinging voters are easily swung.
Incidentally, I was actually at the Liberal Party conference on the weekend (I work a second job in a hotel in Canberra), where I met David Farrar. Julie Bishop is a pretty scary prospect for an Australian deputy PM. She's particulalrly conservative and reactionary, as is her leader.
