  • Ian Dalziel, in reply to Russell Brown,

...being hit with such a large fine

Surely Key/National should be fined as well as they were party to it (as it were...)

  • Craig Ranapia, in reply to Russell Brown,

On the other hand, by raising a complaint about the child poverty documentary the way he did, McIlrea put himself under scrutiny as a political appointee, so my sympathy for him is very limited indeed.

I'd agree with you there, but McIllrea has a damn sight more pertinent professional experience than a good number of political appointments.

Let’s see what the police have to say, shall we?

I'm not excessively confident that the Police will take this any more seriously than previous referrals from the Electoral Commission, but I think even the most fervent conpiracy theorist would grant that's been an issue for a very long time - and National has hardly been the only beneficiary.

In fact, SPADA has openly called for NZ On Air appointments to be bi-partisan.

Re: SKY TV, how do you lodge complaints with the Commerce Commission if you're not in charge of a company?

I'd like someone to ask Penelope Borland exactly what she means by that. To be utterly cynical, political hacks acceptable to both National and Labour would have even more reason to pass on a funding pitch for anything even vaguely politically contentious. But, hey, Binge Drinking Masterchefs Border Patrol Highways shouldn't upset anyone, right?

Thanks, a good read, what is amazing is that we all must be so careful with our words, and Key doesn't.

A recent example of ths was possibly Tuesday with Key saying in relation to the s9 issue - that "water" and "air" were free and that no one owns them. That this folly was accepted and hte soundbite run on the networks without being challenged is beyond amazing.

  • Ian Dalziel,

    Key skills sought...
I see Radio Live is looking for a Parliamentary Reporter, surely John Key could also fill this role, what with his proven broadcast experience with them...
