  • Yamis,

    Deborah:

    Which adds up to 105%.

    Please explain.

Well I sorta got pre-empted, but anyway...

They are women, some of them can't make up their mind ;)

Steve, I think the issue (well for me anyway) is that this guy is on my tellie every night and I wake up to him and Kath Harby-Williams on the radio every morning (though mainly for the sports headlines cos I can't stand him). And so I would like him to properly face up to what he has done and not take a chance with public opinion by manipulating (and being manipulated). I have a real sick feeling in my stomach that in many peoples eyes he is redeemed already before his real redemption has even started.

And yeah, I think he should either nail himself to a cross to be stoned half to death, or else he should quit and piss off quietly. Not tell half truths, paint himself to be a changed man without even fully owning up to what he did and hope that there's enough suckas out there that he can give mad props to when he makes a glorious comeback to high fives from dorks with no clue left right and centre.

I admit, I've been drinking bourbon and coke all night and am in the middle of a James Bond marathon. Honey Ryder anyone?

  • Yamis,

What the heck is a "swad"?

The best I could find was a French rock band.

  • Yamis,

I can't get nothing for "swads" either.

I did find (in an amazing coincidence after my earlier post) that the word for the day at yourdictionary.com is lapidate though.

    Lapidate him to death!

  • Russell Brown,

    From this morning's Herald:

Veitch left Kristin on floor for hours

Six hours, the story says. After throwing her down the stairs.

  • Russell Brown,

If this report is true, then the HoS interview is starting to look very, very bad. Obscene, you might say.

  • Cecelia,

Hey man, don't be so judgemental! We've all been there!... oh.

Not fair - we didn't know this - and if it's true it paints such a nasty picture that I cannot understand why Paul Holmes - self-obsessed but not I thought a bad guy - would defend him and his right to fight for his "livelihood".

We're now getting into the homicidal territory - she could so easily have been killed. If this really happened, how could her parents not have gone straight to the police?

  • st ephen,

    Another poll for you...
At Carisbrook on Saturday two guys carried a sign in front of our stand trying to gee up the crowd in support. The sign read "Good on ya, Veitchy!".
Out of about 1500 mainly pissed boofheads, they drew about three or four ragged cheers. (Not sure if everyone could read, though).

  • Helen Keivom,

The full stomach churning interview interview with Paul "Oprah" Holmes.

The man is beyond belief. No amount of PR or fawning by Holmes can stop a man determined to paint himself as the victim in spite of overwhelming odds. "Veitchy", denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

BTW, Women's Refuge's annual appeal is on Friday July 25. Given the strength of feeling here, some of you may like to organise a little fundraiser or a collection from your work place. You can also volunteer to be a street collector.

  • Danielle,

Not fair - we didn't know this

No no, I wasn't trying to be unfair - just making a joke about how relativism and empathy tend to drop away suddenly after hearing something like that. (And if you have to explain the joke, it probably isn't funny. Whoops.)

Helen, linky no worky! Where is said interview (she says lazily, not wanting to actually do anything herself)?

  • robbery,

A source said Veitch threw Kristin Dunne-Powell down a flight of stairs, then kicked her as she lay on the ground.

She passed out, and the source, who did not want to be named, said Veitch left her at the bottom of the stairs for about six hours before picking her up and taking her to hospital.

When I was saying we'd need more detail in order to assign the correct amount of hate this is the sort of thing I was talking about, although I would probably have preferred it to come from someone named veitch or powell, or "court records", or "police report" and not someone called source who also does not wish to be named.
I don't know why I don't trust the media to get anything right any more, is it the stage photos and constantly fucking things up.
I resent having to write 'if this is true' before every comment on a media report, but 'if this is true' doesn't that bring in levels of thought well past 'lashing out'©

  • Danielle,

    Try this - Holmes interview

Um, thanks. I think. Of course, I'm now going to lose my breakfast, so there's that problem.

I like the part where he says that this is 'the darkest period [he's] ever had'. Right. Not the actual assault itself, but the 'being found out' bit...

  • robbery,

re holmes interview, what kinds of questions doe she call those. who wrote it up. did he really ask those questions in that order?
asking about the guys career prospects before anything else? now that's in black and white and can be commented on directly.
