Anyway, I took a pleasant stroll down the Valley in the sunshine and voted at Aro Community Centre. I'm one of the expected 10% who made their minds up at the ballot. I went Green for the first time. (er... by that I mean I gave my party vote to the Green Party, not that the act of voting made me sick.)
It was busy, but no real waiting required. My girlfriend has worked as an electoral officer the last few elections and apparently when they open at 9 am there's a line of people waiting to get their votes done - or so it's been in past years. She theorizes that a lot of people want to get it out of the way early and go about their day, and I suppose some are just plain eager.
I feel election day is a day to be savored, in a way, and yet I also have a phlegmatic approach to the whole thing. No matter how much I feel vested in a given election (and I feel a lot less vested in this one than previously) I feel the voting process should be done at my leisure; it should fit into my day as I feel it appropriate. I love being able to kick around and about the house, then head on out to by some new jeans and on the way - oh yeah, I'll just partake in a bit of the ol' democracy. Then I go home, have couple of beers and watch cricket. Democracy's great. So are weekends.
Last election I cast a special vote. I was overseas during the election, and watched the result on the internet from Zurich. I was a little surprised at the outcome. I wonder if I will be this time?

Duncan could have said they'd be crossing to everyone, including Key. He didn't. And hey, turns out they've got the first exclusive with him tonight too. Imagine that. Great with a bit of ass-kissing does.
And yes, they're openly planning on killing MMP. Opening the funding again. I'll have three years of apoplexy with that lot if they're in. Non-stop. Veritable frothing.

Secret taping? He went to a party meeting and talked to the candidates. That's a record of what they said to him. Peace = bad and shit like that.

Hadn't thought of that but it's still like magicians on TV. It kind of makes me go "Whatever" which doesn't quite work as a promotion. eh?

Verily. I have had Issues trying to do teh fonts on Windows. Adding any kind of accent seems to involve strings of numbers, whilst on my superior Macintosh technology one need only press a key. It is no wonder the aliens in IV4 used MacOS...

So... seeing as we all shared our 'where we voted' stories, I'm up for a 'what I'm doing while the results come in story' which is eating roast chicken (free range), stuffed with lightly sauted onions, fresh breadcrumbs and fresh chopped thyme and oregano, together with roast vegies (potato, sweet potato - no kumara, alas, aubergine, capsicum and red onion) and fresh green beans, washed down with a pinot grigio, and anxiously watching the vote see-sawing back and forth between Stephen Franks and Grant Robertson. I suspect that one won't be over until the specials come in.

My Wife and I are babysitting for some friends. The kids are having a late night running round the back yard catching moths in a net and then letting them go.
I'm sneaking in here to the computer to periodically check the results.
