I just have one question: if cutting off pornography and booze will stop child rape, why isn't it being done in Melbourne and Sydney? Because I bet there's a lot more kids raped in a given week in Sydney than in the back blocks of the NT.

Whatever facade Howard had erected to disguise his barefaced land grab has cracked open:
Indigenous leaders representing 75 communities in the territory arrived in Canberra last night in a last-minute bid to tell the Government of their concerns about the legislation but have been unable to see the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Mal Brough.
A co-ordinator of the group, Olga Havnen, said: "In recent years when there has been a declaration of a national emergency, the Prime Minister has attended the site and met with the people effected. That hasn't happened this time."
