  • Craig Ranapia,

See, you're only talking down the left-wing character assassination squad, because you haven't seen the really sexy jackets they get to wear. Way cool.

Kewl... If we're playing Kill Bill, I call dibs on being bad-ass one-eye killing machine Ellie Driver!

Yeah, Palin, you know how to kill and dress a Moose. Whatcha like with California Mountain Snake?

  • Don Christie,

Why doesn't Bill O'Reilly just interview himself? What is the point of having anyone else on his show? He is so screwed up.

Just looking at McCain's speech. Is he incontinent? I certainly seems to be struggling to hold something in...

Yeah agreed. Still, I get frustrated by the hopelessly deferential interviews too.

someone at C4 stuft up and ran a filler episode thinking DS was on hiatus

I think the DS missed the Monday show the week they went to Denver.

Well, McCain used to be the Anti-Christ on O'Reilly's Planet but I suspect the toughest question he'll get on Fox for the next two months is, "Would you like me to tongue your balls while I'm down here, Mr President?"

Am I the only who's starting to think this is one gamble McCain will come to regret, either way? Palin might have been intended as the latest pander to the base, but if he wins - she's going to get ALL the credit for "turning out the base". (I sure don't believe anyone in the room brought the Obama-lite pleas for unity and bipartisanship. Not after Palin out-Coultered Coulter to mass orgasms.) He loses - McCain goes back to the Senate Johnny-No-Friends. Palin goes back to Juno, looking for another disloyal librarian to fire the darling of the theo-cons.

Why could we not see the full interview today, obviously Fox and O'Reilly need to tweak the interview.

The only thing I got out of the speech, was that McCain's mum looked pretty good for 96 years of age.

I started at the beginning of this thread. You lot still do not seem to understand despite actually getting some real exposure through Palin & McCain's speech. Its not about being a woman. Its not about being an anti abortion conservative. Its not about being pro drilling.

The reason McCain chose Palin is that he recognised someone with his own integrity. Willing to take on their own party over ethics issues. Willing to take on big oil over inadequate tax.

He has finally found someone who can carry on the fight against corruption and big government.

The presidency is about making decisions. Despite a short time in office Palin made the right decisions. Obama sat in the Illilnois state legislature and said "Present" 130 times. Obama is incapable of making a decision because it might look bad politically.

And McCain is 72 but his mother is at the convention and she is 96. He is the presidential nominee not Palin. Yet the Repub no 2 is still a better choice than the Dem no 1.

McCain would be perfectly happy to be upstaged by Palin, he has nothing left to prove to anyone.

McCain had it right when he said Education is the civil rights issue of the 21st century.

Riiiight... This is the same Sarah Pailin who, while Mayor of Wasila, hired Steven Silver (Ted Stevens former chief of staff, with ties to Jack Abramoff's lobbying shop) to lobby for federal earmarks in D.C.? The same Sarah Palin who has flat out lied, repeatedly, about her support for the so-called 'Bridge to Nowhere'? And did a bloody good job of it, to boot.

    Shall I go on?

McCain had it right when he said Education is the civil rights issue of the 21st century.

Yes, and perhaps Gov. Palin should take some remedial classes in the difference between fact and fiction.

  • Paul Williams,

McCain's speech seems to be getting a mediocre response pretty much everywhere, including the right:

Hell, I'm not sure what it says about me or my expectations but I thought it wasn't terrible and I expected terrible. He's like a nice old great uncle but I'm over the endless stories and allegories. My problem is that I've no knowledge of the electorate - perhaps this washes with them?

The presidency is about making decisions. Despite a short time in office Palin made the right decisions. Obama sat in the Illilnois state legislature and said "Present" 130 times. Obama is incapable of making a decision because it might look bad politically.

Sage, sorry but I'm not convinced you've got any unique or even different insight on these issues - you're too quick to trot out predictable lines. What's nice about PAS is that its readership appears, to me at least, to be open to a range of alternative perspectives provided they're reasonably put. So far I'm clear you're running an alternative line but it's not sounding particularly clear or informed, just reactionary.

    Just saying...

  • sagenz,

ah of course Palin has to be perfect. Her statements were actually true. She did turn down the funding from Congress. She has not ever said, to my knowledge, that she had never supported it. But she is apparently a liar in your eyes for making a virtue of doing the right thing in the end.

As far as Silver is concerned I dont know anything about it but you seem happy to assume guilt by association. Wouldn't that put everyone in any government in jail?
Strange you do not mention Obama sitting on his hands 130 times

Sage you toddle out these lines as trusims, regardless, and I guess it's quite Roveian of you, of any regard to the truth, or show any inclination to back them.

You then get pretty badly shot down and then wander back 24 hours later and toddle out the same nonsense.

We know she lied in both her acceptance speech and the arrival speech..it's no longer a matter of conjecture.

And for you to say 'She did turn down the funding from Congress' is simply a dishonest way of using half the truth to cover up the other half of "She has not ever said, to my knowledge, that she had never supported it"
The political convenience that led to her turning it down is documented.

Do you actually believe this twaddle, these half-baked slogans, seriously? I think all of us are happy to debate here, but as Paul says, you need to come with something more than simplistic sloganing.

  • sagenz,

I don't apologise for being interested in this.....Under the masthead of The Atlantic , Andrew Sullivan is alleging "a serious possibility that this narrative is completely false, that, in fact, Palin's daughter became pregnant".

    I think not....

Oh you mean you think I should be following the lead of the owner of this blog and Andrew Sullivan and repeating irrelevant shit that has just been made up elsewhere by fanatical anti republicans.

Paul, Simon. Instead of just patronising me, why dont you rebut some of the substance. Leaders of the Alaskan republican party have been found guilty of corruption. Fact. Thank Palin for that. It is a fact that she took on the oil companies in Alaska over their paying insufficent tax/royalty. Obama sitting on his hands 130 times is a fact.

Palin was on the vetting list from the start. Fact. FBI refuse to vet political candidates. Fact

Your being unable to make sense of facts or Huffington Post/Kos inspired fiction is not my problem. tis a shame that you seem to think I need to adopt the party line here, I assumed you could hold any opinion you liked providing there is not a redbaiter style of writing.

Oh dear you just don't get it do you..you repeating things over and over again, vapidly sloganing, saying "fact", and providing litanies of half-truths and misrepresentation, doesn't make them true. Why rebut when you don't listen and accuse others of 'making things up' regardless of how they may document them. I myself am very careful not to use Huffington as a source in discussion as I know it's partisan, and I've not been to Kos for god knows how long..a year maybe.

But your basis and substance seems to rarely go beyond the recital of the GOP Litany.

There are plenty of folks who come on here and discuss with substance..I wish you were one of them, but to date you're not.

If you can't go beyond that, then don't come around here or anywhere else and accuse people of 'making things up'..back to yer Helengrad twaddle.

I have better things to do.
