  • Mike Hollywood,

Not a link but I suspect there's a few bassheads on here and wanted to point out that renowned UK grime and dubstep ace ‘Scuba’ is playing at SFBH in Wellington tonight ... well, 2am-4am tomorrow actually. Publicity has been unusually low key, despite his status within the genre. A whole host of local DJs provide support.

  • JackElder,

Listening to the new MIA album at the moment. Is it just me, or is it a lot more like Sleigh Bells' "Treats" than it is like any of her earlier work? As in, lots of noise, lots of vocal distortion, giant beats and heavy guitar lines?

Unstill Life - go to whoah...
boingboing habitués will have already seen this fabulous evolutionary progression, (it's Vimeo so can't just paste in) a fine living graffiti approach - maybe they could do summat like this on "the Shed that has to die" before it disappears...
    anyway, enjoy...

Note the end of the YouTube link is 'LoVE'. Well, I liked it...

Got the Haints of Dean Hall the other day. Is a lovely listen. Julia Deans also making her presence felt, with the live broadcast on the B Net yesterday. Sound seemed a bit off, but she was pretty fabulous, and sometimes very funny also.

I hadn't met her before yesterday, but she struck me as having an excellent sense of humour.

Yes, and a great face for television, or any other visual media she might care to present herself in. I mean, nicely complements the voice, of course...

Now what were we talking about again? Her live show at Tabac a couple months back was really great, with Lisa Crawley. They make a very nice vocal team. Maybe I'll overcome my Monte Cristo aversion and go see them again.

God, I sound like a teenage groupie!

Some unkind souls used to say that the main difference between this band (or was it the James Last orchestra?) and a cow was that the cow had the horns at the front and the arsehole at the back.

And now for something that isn't house, or rock and roll. Just beautiful. Why they aren't more wellknown I have no idea. Oh, and while we're at it, I miss my brother so you can watch him too.
