the extraordinary digital projection they deployed
Wow. They rigged all that at Splore?

Good to hear Blackalicious were in effect - I remember them playing the Urban Expressions festival in Sydney in 1998, and rocking up to the park jam the day after their show, cold chilling with everything. Hopefully Alphabet Acrobatics & Swan lake got a look in!

Those guys prepare.
They had a mate with a full concert PA idle for a few weeks, so they shipped it into a warehouse and tuned their whole set to it. They basically got everything out of the main stage PA at Splore that it was possible to get.

Goddamit, I am destined never to be in the same country as Pitch Black when they perform. Last time was in London in around 2002 - queue at Cargo went around the block - I simply turned around and waited for the bus back to Lewisham.
Last time I saw Mr Free perform live was as part of Mesh - pure serendipity of walking down High St as they did Hummingbird. Was that ever released? I have not been able to track it down.

Only as demos, I think. Drop me an email and we can work something out.

I've been streaming a pre-release of the new Nadia Reid album this afternoon and it's quite wonderful on first listen. Much more lush and textured than her debut… dreamy and with a touch of Lanois-styled production to the songs.
