This week I've bene listening to a lot of the KiwiFM covers and originals from their soundcloud
Jesse Sheehan's Jesus I Was Evil is brilliant
and being a fall fan and it being budget week I've taken to playing this cover by She's So Rad

That's something to note. A venue set up for loud guitars and sloppy drumming isn't going to do well when you want crisp notes across the spectrum and clear sound at lower volumes.

That's it in one. The Watercolours showcase at the KA last year was just a debacle.

Never appealed. Always admired the skill of soundies who could coax some detail out of such systems.

Those small bars sound interesting and not having to stay up all night - gee, next time I'm there. As to KA - it suits rowdy guitars, young Americans Wavves were very good last year there, and Kurt Vile in December made the place hum too. So there is still a place for the old beast.

Chchch update: The Last Word has opened in the newly opened New Regent St (run by the same good folk who brought you the Darkroom Bar* in St Asaph st – by Galaxy Records ) – even the ‘opposition’ like them (Johnny Moore runs Smash Palace )!
*Zen Mantra, Salad Boys, Villain play the Darkroom tonight (saturday 18 May)
**The Tannery** complex is nigh on open

The Brewery, their excellent flagship enterprise on is open as always. -
