One option (which is supported by some laptop tools like Ableton) is to play in mono and use one channel for playing out and the other for pre-listen. You'd need a reasonably versatile mixer, or a special cable.
The other one is that some phones/tablets support USB OTG (almost all do at chipset level, but it's whether they bring the lines out) which would give you the ability to drive a four channel USB audio device. Given software support, obviously. And a power supply. And probably cyanogen.

I know nothing about any of these things but I have to say that whatever you used was brilliant. I spent a bit of time peering at the turntable graphic thingy. It was pretty cool. The music pumping out from it was even better. And the ladies won on the night.

A quick and dirty way to get a DJ setup in Widows 7 is to use stream routing. All you have to do is use two different media players and set the output of one to “rear audio out” in the devices section and the other one to “front Headphone out”. This will give you two separate outputs. A simple DIY cross-fader will do the rest.

I'm curious whether the Apple devices solved the key problem with effective DJing on a 'droid I ran into, which is that there aren't 4 channels for the sounds,
iOS6 introduced multichannel audio, so apps can, for example, route a stereo cue into the headphones and stereo main out via the dock connector (or any other routing desired). I THINK it's 4 channels total, but may be more.
That obviously requires some form of external soundcard to hang off the dock connector - if you don't have that, most of the apps (e.g. the new Traktor DJ app) revert to a mono-split between cue and master, and you need to split the L/R channels out of the headphone jack... I'm not sure if it's smart enough yet to use Airplay for two channels and headphone jack for the other two -

I was utterly transported by him at times last night -- and also a tiny bit bored at other times. No complaints, but I'd still rank the Big Day Out show as a level up from this one.

I couldn’t quite believe I was at a Neil Young concert – how could this have happened? Do I really want to be transported back to the turmoil of teenage years? Enjoyed it none-the-less, tho it was a long time to stand in one spot, and I wondered if I would get to leave the Vector Arena, the floor seemed to turn to a terrible sticky surface towards the end – someone should look into that – potential for a new super-glue there….

There were dull moments but not so much when Neil was playing--more to do with the silly shenanigans on stage with those twits in white coats, who were just irritating,
Nora: three hours standing was a trial in Wellington but there was a time when legs trembled from the rumble of the music. Maybe straw or sawdust would be a better ground cover, -
