  • Brodie Davis,

I tried to watch the streaming from my ps3, and to be honest even the "high" option doesn't have enough data to display nicely full screen. When it is at the default size sitting in a box in the middle of the screen it is ok (but whats the point of that), and once maxmised it looks terrible and gives me a headache, so until they get it streaming at 720p levels I won't be using it.

Its a fantastic concept but is just hobbled by the limitations currently.

  • Russell Brown,

You can, in fact, use the dish for both at the same time. Just make sure you use a splitter on the cable and pass the "powered" side of your splitter to the Sky box.

Unless something's changed, we didn't even need to do that. We ran the coax in and out of a Freeview Satellite PVR, then to the MySky and on to the TV. Worked first time.

Had the polarisation on the satellite been correct you would have lost the signal to the Freeview box when the Sky box switched the LNB. Luckily the cockup worked in our favour.

  • Islander,

Um, Sky dish belong - Sky: my nextdoor neighbour (literally) had a shitheap of problems trying what you suggest...might be a goer in urban areas: aint, in tiny settlements.

  • Glenn Pearce,

Has anyone else had a go using at the PS3/TVNZ on Demand ?

I'm finding the intetrface extremely frustrating, they really don't seem to have got the browser integration working properly, it doesn't seem ready for primetime.

    - repeatedly locking up for no apparent reason
    - slow, low quality even when I clik the *High Quality* button
    - can't seem to get rid of the menu bar across the bottom
    - last night the ads would play but the actual show chapters wouldn't play, repeatedly looking at Sereposis' teeth is a bit annoying

I'm just about ready to give up on it.

Are you navigating to ondemand via the browser, or using the icon on the XMB? I'm wondering if there's a difference.

I don't have PS3, but I'd guess that you'd get better playback if you go for the low quality option, if it's a bandwidth issue. Not as good a picture, but less likely to have pauses to cache ahead.

I'm using the XMB, I'll try the Browser and see if it's any diff.

At one stage it actually appeared to display the basic TVNZ site within the browser before it hung.

It appears to not close the browser sessions properly or be getting mixed up between sessions opened using the XMB and the actual browser option.

The also doesn't appear to me any noticeable diff betwen the High/Low res options on my 40" Bravia.

I also don't know why you have to select the TVNZ on Demand icon from the XMB, then press the controller X before it starts up.

I'm not sure it's a bandwidth problem because it looks OK when viewed from my PC through browser.

They need to be careful with this user experience stuff, some people will only give it one chance and they need to get it right first time.

Others appear to be having similar issues although it's not 100% across the board

Doesn't matter where you are, it's the same sky (as in real sky not Sky TV) The dish does belong to sky but they really don't care what you use it for, they don't take it away if you un-subscribe and they explicitly tell you to leave it behind if you move, to encourage the next owner/tenant to sign up.

The most common problem with setting up freeview is the LNB setting for the lo frequency. It is either 10750 or 11300. So if the thing don't work then change the setting (funnily enough in the settings for the set top box) . I can't for the life of me remember why this is but my set up uses 10750 and one I set up the other week was 1130, I think it depends on which LNB has been set as horizontal or vertical and that varies.
