  • Paul Campbell,

Some times despite hundred thousands of good and honest people wishing as hard as they can the evil black witch still kills the beautiful fairy

(Who probably didn't need any more
    of this crap any way)

Just great. The program I used turns out to be crippleware and only got about the first half. Might have to grab the rest of it later.

  • Sacha,

CampbellLive was trending in the *worldwide* top ten on Twitter during the show. Flurry of emotion.

  • Rosemary McDonald, in reply to artig,

artig, I hope you caught this http://www.sunlive.co.nz/blogs/8176-pinning-tale-on-johnkey.html wee gem from Brian Rogers...editor extraordinaire.

He actually opines of Amanda Bailey, " some minion troublemaker, who has discovered she wields a bit of power and attention after riding along with a bit of horse play."

Uses rustic terms..."feminist gay nazi brigade" and he appears to have a thing about "squealing pigs."

If this is the best that "the only NZ-owned media company in this region" has to offer, then we're in the deepest of smelly stuff.

And, he seems a bit miffed that he failed to be offered any of the 'change the flag' funding....being a media award winner and all.

  • Lilith __,

Mike Hosking’s inane editorialising peaked this week in this incredible 48-second Mike’s View entitled I want to see news about how happy we all are.

When I saw that mentioned the other day I assumed it was parody. You mean this actually happened?

  • simon g,

    This says it all:

Campbell's crusades should not "go past the point of audience fatigue e.g Pike River", and steps would be put in place to prevent this happening with the show's replacement.

There were a few of his topics where I felt fatigued, but I didn't hold him responsible so much as the subjects of his reporting who were clearly aiming to wait things out until people got "fatigued". I imagine it's easier to ignore a journo when it's so simple to get whatever unchallenged statements you like out there through other means.

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

Of course now it turns out JC was the most popular journo TV had! Why couldn't the Herald, or Savage for that matter, print this before today?

Ah, ETA, been linked to upthread so here's David Fisher with a nice write up about JC

Yes, Rosemary, that was one of the ones I read. And one that perfectly illustrates why I usually just skim the topics and don't bother reading the whole screed. My blood pressure is grateful for that. Fortunately the remainder of the paper, except for some of the letter writers, seldom drops to the level of the 'editorials'.

Had a nostalgic flashback this morning after digging up an old Freeview recorder with a number of recordings from about 2011 of The Court Report, Media 7, and other programs mainly from TVNZ 7. Ahh, memories.

    Hi Geoff.

There are numerous other problems eg the assumption that everyone has autonomy in viewing choices, statistical invalidity in respect of age groupings, under-representation of non-home owning viewers and ethnic groups. But the greatest flaw is that they equate quantitative measurement with qualitative assessment

How is the multiple for these 600 sites chosen? Would we still be getting viewership estimations of 300k to 500k even if there were demonstrably still only 1000 homes left in NZ which actually had a television?

  • Russell Brown,

I meant to put this in the actual post on Friday: in October 2012, I interviewed John Campbell for Media3 and we made a longer 22-minute cut for the web only. Happily, it has survived the cull of Media3 episodes. It's a good watch.

    You can see it here
