  • Evan Yates,

"there are 6 sports in the world that are played with a net but no ball, and this is one of them"

Without resorting to Google or Wikipedia...

    1. Ice Hockey
    2. Badminton
    3. Quoits
    4. Frisbee Golf (?)
    5 ...

    Nope. I'm dry.

  • Evan Yates,

...now I've followed Haydn's links I see quoits was already on the list.

(Assumption : The net is part of separating teams or integral to scoring points/goals etc., and not just a safety device)

According to old-time English usage, fishing is "sport" and a net is used in fishing... (Grasping at straws?)

    6. Inline hockey.

  • Kyle Matthews,

Actually I don't know about 5. It says goals, but it wouldn't make much sense to have a net underwater.

Doesn't that use a hockey ball?

    6. Inline hockey.

Doesn't that use a hockey ball?

No that's roller hockey, which is played on quads. Inline hockey is played on inline skates, with a puck.

    See, for example, this puck.

  • Stewart,

But you can bask in the glory of your 100% winning record for the season.

(As a Highlanders supporter I have come to recognise that we should celebrate whatever statistics we can.)

  • Naly D,

How about that the Highlanders have a better points differential than the Hurricanes at the moment?
Or that despite having one less win than the Brumbies, you're ahead of them?

  • Stewart,

Lovely. But it is all those bonus points from where they have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory or had the match stolen by some dodgy reffing decisions (what" me biased?) They also represent where we could have been about 3 points better off.

Still, I was gratified to see we were holding up 7th place despite the crap start to the season. But I have serious doubts about making the semi's.
