Married, and I will buy my better half underwear - but only if he asks me to. Otherwise I assume, accurately I presume, that he's a grownup and can buy his own pants when needed.
Also, a somewhat drunken conversation at a party a few months back revealed that different brands have different allowances for various bits. It seems some styles are far more accommodating of larger bollocks than others (you may insert sniggering jokes yourself).

When I was single I was that guy. But that was because I went commando. Curiously, it was my first girlfriend who talked me into this habit, I think it was for pervy reasons. People were always rather shocked about it, which never put me off. In the end, I realized it just caused more wear and tear on my pants, which cost heaps more than undies. Also random occasions where I want the kind of speed of access that only commando can provide just don't come up as much as they used to.

Thunderpants are where it's at, for women at least - I think they do men's underwear but I don't know anyone who wears them. I know several women who only wear thunderpants, myself included, and they're the awesomest.

Hooray for Nudel! They're not cheap, but if you want to buy locally made underclothes, they're an alternative to the rather 90s-hippieish Thunderpants.

Yes! to Thunderpants for men. Some of the wacky colours do look a bit like little boys grundys but the elastic stays firm and the support remains strong...plus they are made in NZ. Most comfy I have ever owned.

In the "scanty" type. I have taken to wearing one size bigger than what used to "fit". He is right. The bollocks do get itchy and scratchy if they gird them too high. I bought a pair of boxer ones "just like our hero No 10" (Sheeez - $25!! Never spent more that $15 for 3 pair before) but I find the dangling bit seems to disappear down the left leg with a mind of it's own. It makes me feel so insecure. (My Dad told me to dress to the left)

Ok the main image on the Nudel site made me giggle. Not many kiwi men would have that physique AND that olive tan... Although thunderpants doesn't have a live model which is sad-making.

At one stage I was buying underpants for one of my male family because Postie Plus made especially comfortable ones (he said) and the major retail outlet was here on the Coast.
They've stopped making them.
For myselfish self - anything that isnt comfortable is a)turned into rags b) binned and c) never bought again.
I am especially fond of silk or good cotton boxer underpants (the asexual kind, natch!) Tried bamboo for a while but- meh. Better for the environment, worse for the wearer...

I'd be willing to bet that the single guy who didn't buy his own underwear had just left home and is still coasting on his mum's care packages.
Personally, I think life's too short to wear uncomfortable underwear. The only uncomfortable underwear I have ... was purchased for me when I had an urgent need for a different style of underwear (normal underwear was pressing too tightly on fresh tattoo, didn't have time to go shopping myself). I keep it at the back of the drawer for those occasions where one runs out of desirable clean underwear, so you've got a fallback while you wash the good stuff.

I spend years looking for comfortable undies. I thought I'd found a nice style from Bendon, but the rough elastic irritated my skin so much I had to see a dermatologist. Bloody hell.
By chance one day, I came across the three-for-$15 packs of ladies undies in one of Farmers store brands. I bought a pack to try and was surprised at the comfort and softness. A nice pair of cotton-lycra undercrackers: that's all really one wants.

Yes! Thunderpants are '90s. They'll probably come back in in about five years, but at the moment, it's all a bit too painful. But that's Thunderpants' style, and it's obviously something that works for their customers. I imagine they're quite popular in Wellington.
Also Tom: hipster-cut underwear that has no relation to beatniks. What is the world coming to?

This. It's the only reason I still have one pair that is simply uncomfortable (as opposed to actually painful).
Also while I could never wear boxers during my day-to-day routine, they make damn nice pyjamas in summer.

Bingo. Found that in my last post too!!! Always worrying if I grabbed something that it would turn up on the subsequent pasting. 'Cos inbetween times you might have read something that distracted you and forgot it like!!!

Heh. I remember a Tony Hancock piece years ago where he went to the tailor anf he was asked "How do you dress"....you can imagine the answer, "Knickers, socks, shirt...etc" Must see if i can find it.

Boxer-free zone here - put that down to my advanced age. They may be fine for pyjamas, but no one really wears them as underpants do they? And I've been through more than my fair share of uncomfortable underpants, mainly due to buying the cheapest pairs possible, But there's a reason they're cheap - not quite enough material, elastic that breaks/stretches, material that wears through in a couple of months, especially around the waist band.
Jockey multi-packs from Farmers are good though - although there is a bit of variation in fit between packets. I woulsn't even consider spending more than $10 on a single pair of underpants, even if they were fur lined and more comfortable than a really comfortable thing..... it would just feel wrong

I have found a use for silky boxers. As long as the leg is long enough though.
That is, for riding motorcycles long distances while wearing jeans. Jeans have a tendency to cling to the bum skin and it becomes quite uncomfortable. Add a bit of hot weather and it is truly torture. I tried the silky boxers for a laugh and have never looked back!!! The arse slips around inside no probs. Recommended!!!

Ouch. And here I was feeling all groovy gold prancing about the streets in my Thunders. I have tried Farmers styles honest.The reason I switched from Farmers to TPs is because of the elastic- within a month everything was roaming free in there- moving in uncomfortable directions. I will obviously have to switch back pronto lest the offending items are spotted from one of those special fashion copters, scanning washing lines with a telescopic lens and then printing those 'shame sheets' comparing offenders to people from 'Wellington.' Talk about kiss of death.
Also:Are Thunderpants Grunge undies then? Should I shave my sideburns off?
