Three things:
1. Damn, I look mean in that photo.
2. Yes, the bruises are spectacular.
3. I would like to do it again, and soon.Oh, four: thanks to everyone who came!

I kept asking for roller skates when I was a girl but my parents would never buy them for me (something about growing feet). So now I'm thinking, hey, I could do this...

It was so choice. I'm not one for whooping and yelping, but I couldn't help but shriek (quietly) in delight whenever Smash Malice appeared to be doing well (I mean, Hadyn did his best to explain but ... ...I was a bit lost at times).
Good freakin' times. Bring on the next bout. I've talked this up to so many people already, complete with emotive hand gestures and mild-medium dribbling.

Time is clearly ripe for a North versus South bout. Auckland's own Blackheart Bruisers, Mascara Massacre and Dead Wreckoning have had it their way for far too long...

Video of the bout (#2 I believe) now online, after some post-processing...

Hmm, I suspect PhotoBucket has given the PAS server some indigestion...

Nice stuff. (Though I think you mean "jam #2".) Some good action photos as well. Loved the shot of Suffer Jet finding herself in the clear after a double fall in the pack (photo #3) and of the dueling jammers (#11).
I'm sure I saw some video cameras at the other end of the hall. Hopefully we'll get some more video footage.

There was a blonde girl with a camera on a tripod and a "crew" doing interviews afterwards so there must be more footage somewhere
Also in real life it seems much faster and tougher, but still good work Red

I reckon. The rink also looks much smaller in the video.
Going to the cricket this weekend Haydn? Anyone else?

I know at least one of the people with cameras was there as part of a documentary, which has been in the works for at least a year now.
But speaking of footage etc, what chance would there be of getting a couple of DVD's with the images your photographers took, Hadyn?
I'm off to Auckland for the weekend, but it'd be great to get a copy for the girls if possible, email me.

Hey everybody we practice rollerskating and roller dance at Upper Hutt Rollerskating Club on Saturdays from 3 to 5 pm in an open session. ($6) They have rental skates; we'd love to see any interested skaters or used-ta-be or wanna-be-skaters up there any time; we're friendly and eager to recruit more skaters and dancers.
The derby audience was super responsive so I know some of you out there are ready to join us!
