Thanks all for the appreciation of my pickled walnut jar.
I appreciated the photographic ease of converting the ‘seeing’ of it to the captured image in one photo at first attempt. Doesn’t always happen!
Here’s a detail in full-res of the upright/inside-out version, where the meniscus does interesting things.I thought this morning I might try for a more zoomed/macro version for further detail …

Looks like a Ministry of Works bridge. Profoundly unlovely except at night when it’s lit in colours.
Nice to meet you Jackson – a good day for a walk today! We took the puppies to Sumner Beach for their first beach trip. I thought I would get pictures, but it was too hectic – all hands were needed. Great fun.

Looks like a Ministry of Works bridge. Profoundly unlovely except at night when it’s lit in colours.Whereas the real twisted (foot) bridge over the Avon looked profoundly sculptural and more meaningfully so than that Hagley pond effort? Does it yet survive?

That's on Ian D's patch. I don't know -- that particular 5km away is a mission to get to from here! A while ago I was over that way, took a right turn instead of the usual way that was closed due to road repairs and drove for 45 minutes through Dallington/Burwood in the most devastated area of town before I could get out. It was totally surreal: houses nosediving into their front garden, bosky sideways tilts, streets and streets of cleared sections and mostly empty houses, some boarded up with ply, others with broken windows. I went home and wept: I have no words for it still.

Thanks Hebe, Ian and Joe for responses on the Avon footbridge - I look forward to seeing it installed somewhere appropriate when the time and place is right, for Christchurch peoples, then for me.
I'm yet to revisit Christchurch since the earthquakes. Unsure how I'll respond but there must be strong emotional components in the first-hand experience - my first photo posted on Capture was of the CBD from jet-height in November 2011 and even that and then had a big impact on me.
