Me too, thanks. Looks like fuchsia dependens, renowned for its ease of propagation. Just a little bit of stem & foliage will usually strike root when stood in plain water for a couple of weeks.

The elderly gentlman with the garden was sharing his lunch out on his back porch.I nearly returned today to support his stall as he had run out of the Fuscia yesterday but I really have no room at the mo for more plants.

And I just caught a Monarch butterfly leaving his garden. :)

And just quietly,he and his garden was the most welcoming. Others seemed a bit pretentious. The other day I spotted these recycled Vietnamese oil drum sculptures and here was some in this mans garden. I like. :)

Is that my neighbour's garden, Sof? He's a lovely old fella. I noticed the stall out on Marsden Ave, and wondered what was happening. Now I know - wish I'd gone to see it now. For over 20 yrs, I've been dying for a squizz at his garden. It's open on the first Saturday of every month, so one day I'll walk down there..

Stranded in paradise. Great shot.
That pool would have been a nice place to be yesterday. Damn it was hot! First heat stroke headache of the season. If you can't swim in it, at least remember to drink it.

Yes it was Jackie! His name is Peter Brady. He is most friendly and now that I know he is open I may go have another look. It is well worth it .Very quirky. The whole garden is full of sculpture, birds and many many plants. well worth a look. :)

Oh yes the pool was a meandering one with an island of palms, hibiscus,cycads and broms. photo ops were few because there was little walking room and many visitors

I think that Lockwood is a bit of a nong but he does treat his animals with great care. He breeds Belgian Blue* cattle somewhere up your neck-of-the- woods (north of Helensville).
I liked the alpacas and donkeys best. The cattle was just a mite over-sized.
* they look more white than blue to me. -

Unless Lockwood's rather shorter than I'd imagined him, that's a bloody big bull.
Former Australian PM Malcolm Fraser got into trouble a few years ago when one of his stud bulls being exhibited for sale allegedly damaged a prospective buyer. The aggrieved party claimed that the the barrier behind which the animal was displayed was too low. Rumour at the time had it that this was a common but dodgy practice to make the merchandise look bigger.

My Dad called yesterday, said he had seen Lockwood and his bull at that very show, then told me he is from my Dad's family area, went to school with his cousin. He was also a teacher at my school when I was there I think. Put things into a bit of perspective for me. -

My brother visited Kaikoura the other day, and was struck by how little the view from the point by the old customhouse chimney had changed since he spent the night in his car there in nineteen-seventy-freaking-THREE, and grabbed this shot at dawn.
So Gudrun Gisela scanned it, & I rotated it 1 degree right & removed a couple of dirt specks and here it is after sitting in a box of slides for nearly fourty years.
Ektachrome, Pentax, and a hulking great zoom of dubious pedigree that needed occasional attention with a screwdriver.
And he still has the car. -

Sunrise and sunsets are always heart warming photos for me. Being Aztec descendant might have a bit to do with it. Your lovely piece of art has made for a nice segue into a slice of the wall of remembrance up at the Mercy Hospice. This was taken at the beginning of the Heroic festival tour. The wall spans approximately 8 to 10 metres.
