Beautiful luminous images, handheld, no flash, for various reasons should be put out there more. Social anthropology, petrol head book buyers and even art. The moving vehicle shots I have seen are quite cinematic. The strangely empty streets intriguing. Punks down the side streets, heh.

Ephemera: The 'Flash Cars Etc' Snaps Gallery exhibition poster. Not sure if this was the first or second exhibition but it dates from 1976/77.

My trusty Toyota Corolla SW, manual, took me here to the end of the line, Bluecliffs, next stop Stewart Island, so I could surf it. Also took me to strange offroad spots on the SI West Coast, where locals would wonder how the hell it ever got me to there. Lived in it for a while.

Crikey, Richard. I think you’re taking the term ‘flash’ a little too literally. Gather you had ‘stepped away from the vehicle’ before it caught fire?

My friend had a Rambler, this was mine, Alpha GT1300 Junior, 150bhp. We used to swap cars depending on the occasion.

This is a car I bought in the US of A . I drove route 66 from Kansas to LA with my lil' bro'. We had a problem just outside of Flagstaff. Turned out to be the rocker arm. Pulled into a tiny blink and miss it town (and forget the name town) The first garage we found had the red custom chev that the mechanic owned out side.
Me: "Was wondering if you could help me and my car?"
Albert: "That depends on entirely what sortsa car you drive miss"
    Me : I have a 56' chev
Albert: "Hells, bring her on in"

After staying the night in the small town, (we had been snowed in, roads out of town closed), Albert found me a brand new rocker arm on a Sunday ,fitted it a gifted me a new badge for the front. We proceeded to LA and got there in time to miss the reggae festival I had planned to see.

A great rarity in NZ. Probably the very model driven by Pablo Picasso:

Well the girls would turn the color of an avocado
As he would drive down their street in his Eldorado
He was only five foot three but girls could not resist his stare, so . . .

Resembles a scene from Monte Hellman’s “Two Lane Blacktop” Sofie, the Chevies are rather clean though!

My sister and her man collected old cars. She still has a Citroen light 15. These I imagine are still in that shed on his farm.

On a tiki tour around the North Island a couple of friends wanted to stop over at Ruatoria.Their family were restoring this Marae on the beach. We all slept there for the night, then we continued on around the North Island the next afternoon.
Magnificent place. Took the horses down to the beach and were served Paua cooked in butter and garlic. Lovely place, lovely people, lovely hospo. :)
