Thanks everyone for your kind words. Now for some out-takes as they come to hand – first up, Mainstreet on Queen St in 1983 and the Gluepot in 1990. The former no longer exists, the latter is unrecognisable.
I like the idea of commemorative plaques.

after the Carlton gig in Chchch, last century,
I remember being most impressed that he
knew the proper pronunciation of my surname...
- but then 'e would, wouldn't 'e...
