A Month of Sundays

by Jackson Perry

Fab Feb, on the March.

Someone told me it was March, and I gave them 'the look'. This just isn't possible.

There is a strange sense of déjà vu with all this. Just as I was about to post an 'Indian Summer' thread, the weather happens, and our friends in Christchurch are under the cosh again. Wishing you all the best, and I can't really think of anything appropriate to say, other than FFS world, sort it out!

Looking back on February, it was a busy and eclectic month of activities. To reflect my jumbled state of mind, I'm lumping it all together, in the hope you'll all weigh in with your own liquorice allsorts.

I'll fill in the details in the captions.

Capture away.

Auckland Pride Festival

Pah Homestead

New Zealand Fashion Museum - Hello

The Auckland Pride Festival ran from February 6th to 23rd, and was a major feature of month across Auckland. The Museum dressed up for the occasion. Photo: Jackson Perry

The Big Gay out was another great event in the Pride Festival. Beautiful people in colourful costumes. Photo: Jackson Perry

The Lantern Festival. To sum up my experience on the night, 'too much, too many people, uh huh.' Photo: Jackson Perry

Thanks to my friend Dee, I ended up DJing before the Stiff Little Fingers concert. Apart from an incident with the cross-fade, it was a blast, and SLF were just bloody great. The Bennies were fun beforehand too. Photo: Jackson Perry

Sculpture at Pah Homestead. If you haven't been for a while, pick a nice day to have lunch on the balcony with this view. Photo: Jackson Perry

More sculptures, this time at Auckland City Gallery. I was totally captivated by these Francis Upritchard figures. It also surprised me a bit that when I inquired about taking photos in the gallery, I was told the only room off limits was the Goldie room of Kaumātua, for obvious reasons. I assume it's also Ok to show them here? Photo: Jackson Perry

A theme within a theme? The New Zealand Fashion Museum has a display in the Silos. Link at the bottom of the post. They will have a pop-up photography studio on 7th, 8th and 9th March, where you're invited to get fashion favs out and have them professionally photographed. This could be interesting. Finishing on a high. The Pride Parade down Ponsonby Road, while different in many ways from last year, was still a festival of colour, tolerance, and a great family outing. Photo: Jackson Perry
