I think they got the idea from one of those TV ads for telephone 'chat' lines. When they say "call now - free for a limited time" they don't mean you can use their services for free while a sales promotion is on; they mean you can talk for free for the first few minutes and then you get pinged $4.99 a minute thereafter.

So often the 'Terrorist' becomes the statesmen.
How do you view Nelson Mandela? As a young man Israeli PM Ariel Sharon was blowing up buildings to drive the British out of Palestine.

yeah - SNAP!
I just ran back to check - while watching the TV news the penny dropped: "did I say __health__care?" -
Londoner's have been raised on stories of how their grandparents survived 'the Blitz' in WWII, how they showed Jerry a thing or two by singing songs while the V2's rained down ...

Animae characteristically pushes certain themes and tropes to the fore – supernatural friends, martial mysticism, prepubescent superheroes, secret weapons, what colour the heroine's knickers are.
My first experience of Animae was while visiting Hong Kong in the early 90s. They ran the cartoons afterschool and I was quite perturbed. They all seemed to feature scenes of schoolgirls being up-ended so we could look at their white cotton panties. Since I didn't speak the language I could only watch and try and figure out what was going on. Without success. Seemingly Sailor Moon's sole purpose in life is to be bowled over in slow motion so we can see her knickers.
That stuff they play in that sushi place in Parnell is even more saucy.

Sheeesh.
I think Fletch has it right, it ties with my memory. They showed the footage of Paris walking out of jail at about 6.25 ie as soon as the footage came in, but they certainly didn't lead with it. The Campbell footage was a repeat of the 3News footage, but yes, I think he had a live reporter. Nightline may have lead with it at 10.30 but so what? The late bulletin is alway the fluffy stuff, they don't want you skipping off to bed.
The liberation of Paris? er, that was first used by someone about 10 minutes after incarceration.
am I the only one who remembers when John was telling anyone who'd listen that Campbell Live was, well, going to be a little smarter and more substantial than the competition? Yeah, but didn't Ralston also say TVNZ News was going to be about the stories and not the personalities presenting the stories? Didn't Labour promise 20 hours free healthcare?
BTW - I have no allegiance to any channel. And yes I watch and 'enjoy' reality shows. But ...
I guess I prefer Project Runway to The Apprentice.
Hmmmm. -
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it didn't lead on 6pm bulletin either - but Graeme says it did. (And leading with it on Nightline hardly counts.)
BTW - Can anyone explain why TV1's Sunday programme decided to run that item/film promo for the movie Zodiac? The film has already finished its run in NZ (unless you count a last gasp in Otago). Was the item 'filler'??

Paris Hilton and Project Runway are both fluff that have no real impact on our lives. They are merely television constructs; a distraction to the mundane life.
The Apprentice, on the other hand, is a worthy and revealing insight into the hidden machinations of big business and the people who run them. A secret glimpse into the boardrooms of the people who shape and control our lives, allowing us a rare opportunity to watch so that we may learn how to serve them better.

And I can confirm TV3 led with Miss Hilton. They crossed live.
Wow! I stand corrected! (Bizzarre considering I auto-record the 6pm bulletin each night - not sure how I missed that gem)
wot Danielle & Jackie said above
eh? What u talkin' 'bout Willis??
Where did I say 'all reality television is much more inane than scripted television'?? -
