Good to see Kiwi lads do well in the world. I think the Herald is stretching things slightly by calling it Kiwi-made though...
American cable channel HBO has ordered a second season of Kiwi-made comedy Flight of the Conchords.

Compared with Rakon ... who supply oscillators used in GPS systems
Do they make oscillators specifically for smart bomb GPS units, or do they make oscillators for GPS units, some of which are used by the military, some for smart bombs?
Its the difference between making a weapon and making something that can be used as (or in) a weapon.
What if some of the millions of pine logs that ship out from Tauranga every year were used to make the stocks of chinese AK47s? would that mean various NZ forestry investors are complicit in the use of those weapons in firing squads executing political prisoners? -
And what are the rules about dealing with companies that deal with companies that are involved with companies that make equipment that is used by companies that make gear that they sell to US companies that supply the military?
How many degrees of separation from objectionable activities are needed to make people comfortable? -
Yes, it is against the law to go 114 in a 100 Km/h zone, that's why the nice policeman gave me a ticket.
However, the speed limit is only vaguely related to the safety of any given stretch of road (that's why the speed limit doesn't change inthe rain). There are plenty of bits of the Desert Road which you'd be suicidal to approach at 100 (that's why there's little signs recommending, but not enforcing, 25). But there are plenty of stretches which on a clear day have practically unlimited visibility, no hidden side-roads and no chance of a kid on a bike coming out of a driveway. The only danger on such a stretch is either you or the guy coming the other way falling asleep and crossing the centre line.
I know I ain't a better driver than everyone else, pretty average (not in the lost rugby game sense though) really.
I don't speed in residential areas - my kids live in residential areas.
Drive to the conditions is what the road safety ads say. When I drove the same stretch a fortnite ago in the rain I didn't go that speed.
I know they won't change the upper speed limit, but its a number they picked as a good average top speed for average NZ roads. For above average roads in above average conditions, an extra 15 km/h ain't so bad.
As long is enforcement is fair & equitable I don't have any real problem with the 100k limit, but if they're letting people off for going 160, I want my $80 back! -
But if it came up that John Key had popped in to Showgirls on a night out a few years ago, having had one too many, do we think it would ruin National's poll ratings?
Looks like Key is falling over himself to point out that he goes to strip clubs too.

Severing the bridges at Mangere and Pakuranga would be more effectively targeted at Banks
Lets do it, blow up the bridges and build a wall.
Then the rest of the country can send its dregs and criminals there for safekeeping (a bit like chch now). After a while we might need to get Kurt Russell in to clean house.

I taped it too
Real, genuine, old-school tape? Or that newfangled virtual tape stuff?

I am so glad NZ men don't get into dying their hair to cover grey
You'd be surprised - I know a few.
Not me though, I'm happy to have 'em no matter what colour they are. Wish the little buggers wouldn't keep migrating from the top of the head to other less attractive locations, then I wouldn't need a Turkish barber with a burning cotton bud.
