I wonder how I would feel if I was Ron.
Not stupid enough to believe your own BS, but cynically dim enough to expect others to.

Once upon a time technology held the solution:
In 1996 the Australian government and Prime Minister Howard considered tighter control over the broadcasting of violence on television and videos. The communications minister at the time wrote to the television stations "ABC" and "SBS" and asked them to review their codes of conduct. As a result of this the committees of the television stations looked into installing a "v-chip" in TV sets. A "v-chip" would allow viewers of the stations to block selected programs. However Mr Howard also expressed his views that he was opposed to censorship but asked the public to look at what kind of society we are, what are we living in? "He thought parents could not "escape their responsibility" for children watching violent material".
After these issues came to light television stations were replacing their already programmed movies that contained violent scenes for lighthearted comedies. All of this "talk" came one week after the "Port Arthur Massacre". The television stations did not wish to discuss the actual decisions but Channel 9 released a statement, "we were sensitive to what happened at the weekend (Port Arthur)". But no, it was not an acknowledgment of any link between screen and actual violence".
Just one week later normal television schedules were resumed, "what might be offensive one week is acceptable the next"

The V-chip came to pass - but no-one remembers what it's for:There is a button on the remote which is V CHIP which when pressed asks for a password. I asked the tech about it but he said he didn't know.

Whatever facade Howard had erected to disguise his barefaced land grab has cracked open:
Indigenous leaders representing 75 communities in the territory arrived in Canberra last night in a last-minute bid to tell the Government of their concerns about the legislation but have been unable to see the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Mal Brough.
A co-ordinator of the group, Olga Havnen, said: "In recent years when there has been a declaration of a national emergency, the Prime Minister has attended the site and met with the people effected. That hasn't happened this time."

Ever tried to intervene in a public situation where someone vulnerable is being beaten? The common reaction seems to be to be told to eff and mind your own effing business. Usually, IMHE of such things, it's the victim who's the most indignant, even if she (usually a she) has been screaming call the jacks only moments earlier.
Mikaere's right, even the victims behave as if violence has no consequences. Bogan culture dictates that those you have power over are your property, to do with as you please - "they're my kids and I'll whack them if I want". Such values die hard, and are given a gloating nudge-wink encouragement by the likes of Laws and whatever that guy's called who seems to have some kind of reputation as a public funnyman for no discernable reason other than that he affects red eyeglasses.

No one had ever thought to do it on such a scale before though.
Elias Lönnrot's 19th Century Kalevala - which is where Tolkien acknowledges copping most of his licks - runs to over 22,000 verses.
Lönnrot of course was a compiler and collector of existing work rather than an author. -
F'd if I know.
F'd if you can remember your name too?
Seriously, rubbery or whatever, the longer you go on posting under a nick, big-noting your unsubstantiated achievements while slagging those who are prepared to stand on their record, the greater the possibility that you're a talent-free troll. -
