OK let's put the numbers aside for a bit.

Anyone else got a vision of how things might work?

    I too,
    have a point of view,
    on that!

Just the one point of view....surely a man as talented as you sir, should be allowed an extra couple. Spares in case the the one that's glowing so bright burns out.

The kid that held up the “I Hate Auckland” sign at a match a few years ago.

Whilst I agree with you about the feral crowd, I thought that kid with the sign was endearing. I'm looking forward to taking the neice to a home game (for her) in Auckland, with an "I hate you Auckland" sign at some stage in the next few years.

(Jon steps back and admires his work...the growing sense of anticipation at having reason to enjoy an Auckland game, or the improving liklihood that he won't be asked to babysit again)

mho, the 5% threshold is too high.

I dunno. There is a rate of mental illness in society (whatever it is) that perhaps we need to account for and whilst I think that representing the needs of those citizen's is important, it can kinda mess up the rest of the system if the threshold is too low. They're has to be some allowance for what back when I was doing my undergraduate degree and a lot of "exams" had a multi-guess component, for what we called "the monkey score", being the rate at which a monkey (or drunk student) would score if they either just randomly ticked boxes, or selected column "c" all the time. If you can't get 5 people out of hundred to vote for you, perhaps you're really out there on the cutting edge, or you just had a brain-fart when coming up with policies.

I kinda wonder if forcing everyone to vote is such a good thing. If people are interested enough to vote, good for them. But if people are not interested, thanks for giving up your right to participate and thanks for not diluting the worth of vote of those people that are interested. By all means have an easily accessible process to allow people to vote if they want to....perhaps this paragraph/post is a brain fart, as I haven't really considered this before, nor pondered if NZ were to change the threshold in which direction and to what % should we change it.

I do agree with the Kyle's comment regarding keeping many ego's in the one box...I think there are a bunch of countries that demonstrate that. Top of mind is NZ and Winny-the-P.

Robyn's W3 clip is very cool. Am unsure if it was just Selwyn's professionalism or something else that prevent him having a bit of gasp, or snicker at the girl's response...I wanted to call her Robyn actually. Then the delicious irony as the young lad get's the answer. Reminds me a lot of the Two Ronnies doing mastermind.

And if the rendering has gone all bung and you can't get hold of Doug Howlett, Carlos or any of the hairgel boys, I wonder how PAS will render this link.

Anyone else getting "Get Flash Player to watch videos" link instead of a youtube link? I've done the "view source" and it seems like a browser rendering issue, though the underlying code for links seems to be a bit different to what it was a few weeks back when I was looking at a different error in Opera only.

I have now looked at this in Opera, Firefox, Safari, Chrome....and have just found that IE works when the others do not....

  • Discussion: On Copyright,

I wonder if what we're seeing is a blockage.

I am sort of over the whole trying to quantify the economic consequences of the change to the music industry. To make this estimate anywhere near vaguely correctly we'd need a really sophisticated model, in which we could dial-in all sorts of factors (as this is not a ceteris paribus type deal), an independent organisation, an independent governance/review authority and even then if it was accepted as a "best effort" type deal, there would be a bunch of people (probably quite rightly) claiming the model was flawed not to mention the nutjobs too.

But If we leave it alone for long enough, people will forget what the old industry was like...eventually...you know like when we're all worm fodder, then it may sort of sort itself out...like when God created Adam & Eve and put them here and left them to work it out. (metaphorically). (fundamentally it's an ecosystem, just like any ecosystem, but there's been a big & sudden change...that type of deal).

I do however understand that people are perhaps getting stuck on this point, as it's an indicator relevant to a particular industry of where to draw the line regarding industry pain (Supply) and the other line being Public Good (Demand) and the balancing act thereafter.

Maybe the idea that we're trying to find is a perhaps one size fits all, suits nobody (perhaps that's not true....I probably look fine in a kaftan), or it could be a little more fitted to categories of industry/creationism (yeah I know that it's a clunky way of being inarticulate, but adsense revenue ++....er what is the catch-all term for all of the industry and non-industry involved in the production of tangible & intangible products & services, some of which may be completely outside of the current economic models?).

Righto I'll stop being sensible now and revert to 'Plan A'

Try the dish washer they come out really floppy and you can make great looking fruit bowls out of them. Also Wire brush and acetone is really good for that authentic scratchy sound.

Funny. Looks like occassionally Steve goes a bit overboard with the happy pills.

Not everyone has a dishwasher Steve...Alternatively you can just use the washing machine on a synthetics wash...and if you don't have one of those, there is always a laundromat. Applying lead (pb and perhaps fe is just as effective) to the surface to clean the surface is only good for at high speed/velocity records...which I think are more difficult to lay your hands on these days. 78's I think they're called.
