I just heard Key said that "Hide as a Minister outside cabinet was a good idea." Remember the fuss when Peters was so appointed? Flop-flip.
-
Perhaps Roger Douglas will stir things up a bit which might earn some concessions for Act in exchange for quiet, and then as a List MP he could just resign.

I think I read somewhere that the vote in Auckland Central was about the same for National as it was in 2005. But the Labour vote dropped right off.

Testing only shows what might be happening at this moment. Should be out of date tomorrow.
Testing should leave the child's confidence intact.
It should have a particular purpose.
If it is not relevant and appropriate for this particular child it will fail the above.
Should provide a guide for next step.
As for published league tables and in the USA pay is tied to test success.
"hey. Let me choose who is in my class. No dumb ones please."
And there is a lot of evidence in the States of Teachers straight out cheating to survive.
Schools become condemned if they happen to draw on low socio-economic families.
Will the Private Schools be tested in such an insane regime? -
The effect of National Testing in the USA is to dampen the innovative teaching and learning. Some exclude other aspects to concentrate on teaching to the tests. USA and Britain envy our targeted testing' learning. There is plenty of disaster evidence around National Testing standards.
Wonder if Private Schools will be included? -
We will see, though sad to see Pharmac, and Investment of Kiwisaver in political hands. And ACC!. The very thing that made these orgs world famous, was their freedom from political interference. Sighs sadly. :(

"They voted for hope, they voted for action, and they voted for results." *pause* *more adulation* "They voted for a better life for all New Zealanders." *pause* *deathly silence*" etc
Matthew: I was mentally graphing the Party loyal responses to Key speech. The falling away of excitement was distinct as the speech went on. The glimpses of the audience was anything but animated as it went on and down. A good successful speech for winners goes up a notch, up another notch, then crescendo!!!! Like sex I guess. -
"Trotter and Co. -- drop the C and the L from "class", and you're not far wrong."
What happened to free speech? Craig some of your own comments are pretty extreme. If it is part of the fabric of debate to use excessive rhetoric to make a point then let the reader be the judge.
It seems likely that since Key cannot get stuff done unless Act agrees, then it follows that Act has the whip.
And has Key the skill and the wit to negotiate successfully. Mmmmm. -
After listening to political commentators over the weeks, I would like to nominate Brent Edwards for the position of Man of the Year.

"Now he has just suggested he might try a photo of Obama's dog and see if that satisfies the kids
and he'll even sign it for them."
I bet he doesn't. He will make a fast buck by selling it to them! His signature will be worth zillions!
