Polity: Buying a fight with democracy, in reply to
Invoking Basil Fawlty at him seems in poor taste and bad faith.
I’d say something similar about invoking the Nazi Party at me.
This is getting very meta.

Polity: Buying a fight with democracy, in reply to
Invoking the US Republican party as an equivalence to the NZ National party is effectively godwinning your own post.
I'd put it differently. I'd say "Invoking Godwin's Law when nobody mentioned ze war is a good way to express moral outrage when you actually have nothing to say."
I think what Bart means is that it's a specious and irrelevant connection to make. Invoking Basil Fawlty at him seems in poor taste and bad faith.

Speaker: House prices and the "Magic Money", in reply to
All that together suggests that the market is not simply responding to a lack of supply but is instead responding to an increase in external buyers with external money.
What bemuses me is that people seem weirdly resistant to that idea. I honestly don’t see anything surprising in the idea that offshore money would want to buy housing in New Zealand. As an explanation for the price rises it actually seems more logical to me than the constant insistence that supply is limited when it doesn’t take much driving around Auckland to see huge new increases in supply.
What Bart said. Seems to me David's got strong evidence here. Is it being picked up by the media at all?

Speaker: The CERA transition that no one…, in reply to
Well said Stephen.

David, thanks for doing this. It's a clever analysis that can't be turned into a racist dogwhistle. We need a lot more of this sort of thing.

Is this, or the houndbrain, the origin of fuzzy logic?

bum rap
Bum wrap, even. ;-)

Well, thank heavens. An intelligible thing to submit! Go to it, folks, just enter your name and any further thoughts. Thank you, Action Station.

That CERA web submission form is massively confusing. I have no idea what most of the questions mean.
Do you have any views on the powers and provisions that will be needed in the new legislation to support regeneration?
Do you think that the proposed new arrangements for the central city will create the ‘step change’ needed to drive business confidence and investment in the central city?
Seriously, what? How can I write meaningful answers to these gibberish questions? I want to, obviously, but I'm stumped.
