Just because umpteen people have a look at some gratuitous story on a website doesn't mean that the show's going in the right direction.
But if the success of a show is measured solely by ratings - the number of eyeballs of a given age looking at it - then, by that measure, it is going in the right direction.
This is the dichotomy faced by TV programmers, what people say they want to see on TV, and what they actually watch are not necessarily the same thing. When the market researchers call, not many people when asked "what do you want to see more of on TV?" will answer "boobs, big bouncy boobs". But when you look at the actual ratings, there's a decent sized chunk of the population that likes trash. -
While I sympathise with Patrick's position, 80% of most things are crap and there's only the rest that's any good (as usual, statistics made up on the spot).
Sturgeon's Law - only more optimistic...

According to theregister.co.uk the Aussies have been busy tackling the issue of art vs porn, specifically images of nude underaged people. They had an exemption in their child porn laws for artistic purposes, but felt it was insufficiently defined, so formed a working party who have considered deeply, and decided that art don't come into it, if they're not dressed it's porn.

What poor bastard gets stuck in between?
Paul Holmes and a jar of olives.

Oops, double post. Stupid Ipod.

$1.65 billion?
I can get kiwis parity with the Aussies for a third of that!
4 million NZers X $99 Jetstar one way to Sydney. Bingo, done.

I have a PAS crowd-sourcing project in mind, too, but apparently it's quite hard to get one's hands on the book in question at the moment.
The three bookshops I've been in during the past week all had ample supplies. I toyed with buying one, in case they become a collectors item in time, but I'm not seeing the scarcity. So if you're in Borders in Riccarton Mall, Chch; or either bookshop in Chartwell Square, Hamilton, you're set.

Great pix. I can see I'll have to get along and support the local HELLmilton Roller Ghouls. I saw a few of them out for a training jog yesterday, they look serious.

9.7 from the Hamilton judge.

Clearly the pod people have replaced the editorial board of the Listener. It goes all the way to the top, people.
Its all true! I wrote a wee letter to the editor of that organ, and the response I received today was signed by the significant other of our host and erstwhile columnist on this very forum.
