I voted for MMP (apparently one of the few) and I feel it has delivered a better system
My only problems are the strength it gives to the Party, some of whom don't have many members but whose bosses do get to chose who we get to vote for (smoke filled rooms)
And although we mostly get to hear the policies the Party espouses, when the various Parties come together the policies and the weight that the governing Party gives them is out of our (the voters) control (more smoke filled rooms) -
I wonder how many extra votes National gained when John Key said he wouldn't do a deal with Winston Peters last election
And Labour lost with Miss Clark's sneering reply along the lines "Wait till you need Winston's votes to form a government" -
One of the other nice things about the east coast of the South Island, is we don't get flying biting things. Something my Taranaki born wife delights in, although a trip North next month has her hunting for the Dimp
I am sure Islander will back me up on this as she jumps for East to West and must notice the difference -
Best line I have seen so far on the Tea Baggers/Sara Palin feelings
" Palin & crew are feeling unjustly blamed for the actions of an extremist. Maybe they can ask Muslims for advice on how to deal w/ that."

Its funny, no strange, that people feel free to say and do things to red heads that would be quite unpardonable about people of any other colour
No I am not a red head although I can grow a red beard, but I am married to one, have red headed sons and syblings

Just as a query how many people do go away at this time?
I know that is the line pushed by the media ( as an excuse for crappy tv and brain dead news) but as someone who has till now always worked at this time just question that has always set me thinking
I feel it is a time when people has plenty of time to read and view and are definitly short changed -
