On a lighter note:
I don't ever ROFL, but I came pretty close to it with this statement in the weekend's Sunday Star-Times:Hayley Meekin, 24, manages Gore's pub and cafe, Howl At The Moon. She told the Sunday Star-Times the findings [Gore the least gay town in New Zealand] didn't surprise her at all after living in the town for 11 years.
"I don't know why it is, but I definitely haven't noticed any gay couples coming in who are local. I think Mikey Havoc only said what he did because gay rhymes with Gore."

Family First's press release, titled "Increasing Violence in Schools No Surprise" is here (PDF). For some reason, my PDF reader is not working, but someone might like to check how different or not this is from the NZPA story.

As for the "Family First" logo, in some ways it's a good thing. Without it, readers might mistake that piece for actual reporting, rather than the slightly recycled (if at all) FF press release that it is.

What do you mean???!
Well, I'm not sure now.
AltTV's UHF broadcast ceased about 3 days ago. A notice on their news page said that they would from now on only be streaming on the 'net. At least I think that's what it said - can't confirm because that notice has been removed.
Website now seems to indicate that they'll continue on Sky 65 (though I never noticed whether or not it always has been), which is better than nothing, I suppose. Either way, my (non-Sky) telly now has some Chinese channel where the Alt should be.

The Best Man
The Detective kept investigating, so
The best man stabbed him, then
The best man found out that the wife was going to the cops, so
he tracked her down, and
tried to silence her, but
during the struggle fatally fell of a cliff. Then
the husband turned up, and
tried to stangle and drown her, but
she killed him with a rock.Turns out it was the husband wot murdered the girl, all those years ago.
On another topic:
R.I.P. the great Alt TV
Also, 30 Rock: yeah. Studio 60: nah. -

So it looks like the bill will go forward with a provision that would outlaw using your PVR or VCR to record much of the schedule on TV One and TV2. Note that TVNZ specifically said in its submission that the measure was unrealistic and unnecessary. Go figure.
Maybe this problem can be solved by an ammendment allowing police discretion over whether or not to prosecute.

RB,
Some good news for your birthday. ;) -
Dick Smith VZ-200, Christmas 1982 (?) 8k (?!) of memory. Plugged into the telly. Work could be saved to, and very primitive games loaded from, the "Datasette", ie cassette drive, if you got the bias setting just so.
